Thanks for all the feedback. I decided to go ahead and get the full setup. I've already got the Schroth Flexi harness. I'll be picking up a Necksgen REV2 Lite and hitting up a local motorsports store (Stable Energies) to try on HANS compatible helmets.

you can drill your own helmet and install anchors for your HNR. I did not replace my current SNELL-2010 helmet. I just drilled it and added posts/anchors for my HNR.

For a while (6 years), i did this with the OEM roll hoops with just a seat.

That is no longer acceptable for me with where I am in life and how I currently view and value things.
I now run an RSG bar with 6-point, HNR, and aftermarket steering wheel.

Why did you use an extender at that angle through the seat opening instead of attaching the seat belt over and around the seat and into the seat belt buckle?

This is a retarded idea.

Harness isn't going to cost more than $150 I would definitely get at least that, HANS is what $300? I had my helmet drilled at the track by discoveryparts when I bought a HANS

When you crash you will move around allover the place even with a 5 point let alone a 3 point belt.

I crashed once at maybe 45mph into concrete with HANS, 5 point and my head went to the side and up far enough to give me a pretty nasty concussion hitting my helmet on the hardtop here is a video:

I think I had too much coffee that morning I was overdriving for sure

Good that you were ok. Did your arms flail against stuff at all? How tight was the 5th belt now called a negative-G belt? How badly damaged was the car? Was the chassis repairable? In Spec Miata and Spec E30 crashes like that often cause the chassis to be scrapped.

it was pretty bad but mostly in front the control arm mounting points. Tt was fixed it is kind of tweaked, a lot of broken stuff, a-arms, steering rack, bent subframes etc
