Also, at this event, I mis-shifted from 5th to 2nd. I didn't pull the clutch out all the way, but enough for the rear to kick out going into turn 1. Datalogger says I hit 9962rpm for a split second. Should I be concerned?
I mis-shifted from 3rd at redline to 2nd and full throttle for 1 sec. It went in 2nd just as easy as it would 4th, couldn't tell until I gave it gas. Datalogger shows I rev'd to 9250 RPM. My redline is at 7k.

Do a compression check if you can. If numbers are good and you car idles and drive normal you may be ok.

SOOOOO wish I had participated in the S2k Challenge! I was there on Saturday, w/o transponder and had to leave early due to transmission issues of my girlfriend's dad's Corvette. Definitely going to participate in the next one though!

What happened to your car, Mike???

Bolts connecting the driveshaft and tranny backed out... 5 were loose (2-5 turns out), and one was completely gone.

10k rpm... my understanding is that there may be damage, but the damage may not necessarily show itself until WAY later. I believe it is the valve retainer that gets damaged, and you can have them checked when you get a valve adjustment. If you're really scared, you can get them replaced....

Billman had some excellent posts regarding overrevs.

Congrats on the 3rd!

If you are a habitual over-rever...get these for piece of mind.

^^^ I concur!!! Tony from Mid-valley auto repair recommended it, and Saturday i understood why...fairly cheap mod ($350 for parts, another $400 or so for installation) to make sure you won't damage or blow your engine.

August 2nd, prep has already started!

Supertech Valve Springs and Retainers. No points for S2K Challenge. Talk to Tony about pricing. Tell him that Ed sent you.

So you gonna get that GTC-200 wing?

Make sure you tell KC at APR that Ed from the S2K Challenge sent you and make sure to bring the physical copy of the Speedventures certificate.

Ben, 30% off retail ($785) plus tax comes out to $603. Another S2K Challenge sponsor, R&D Factory can do it for much lower than that. No coupons required.

those are only maintenance issues for ap1

they do no benefit ap1's at all except knowing that your retainers will not crack or break easily the next time you overrev.

please check your retainers.

retainers and keepers from the dealer should cost around $100 (ballpark area) or so i think. you only need them for the intake side.
