Safety: Roll bar vs Cage on track
Hey guys,
Thinking of upgrading from my HD double diagonal, to a full cage. I got married recently and plan on starting a family, so I want to be as safe as I can out there (within reason). Right now my safety mods are Pole positions, 6 point belts, HANS, OEM hardtop (if that matters). I track about 5 events a year, I only plan on HPDE with this car. I have zero plans for wheel to wheel racing, maybe TT . I am fast but no where near the fastest out there. My car has a lot of supporting mods for track (blower, bbk, front and rear ducts, mostly gutted, coils, ect). One thing holding me back is not being able to drive it to and from auto x, and the cost of course lol. I just ordered my first set of R-compound after 5 years track/auto x.
So my question to everyone here is how much safer does the cage make it compared to the roll bar in HPDE at intermediate to advanced level?

The front windshield frame of the s2000 has a pretty sizable bar that supports it... your seat has nothing to support your head from bouncing from left/right.
After seeing this video of a guy rolling his Miata at Buttonwillow, and seeing how his helmet nearly made contact with the PASSENGER seat, I bought a full containment seat shortly after:

Has anyone seen or can link footage of an accident with a HANS being used but not a halo seat? I am interested in knowing how far the side to side would be. I would imagine it is only as far as the tether lines in the HANS?

I'd want a cushion there.

Depends what you mean by fit. I would be surprised if any just bolt into a stock interior S2000 without mods to the interior or using some custom mount. I "fit" a Bimarco halo seat by modifying the trans tunnel.
