We are working on it but in order to do one thing at a time we're doing all of this in stages. We're not saying that you NEED to run a pad offset, it will all depend on your tires, suspension, aero... basically weight transfer you can generate to the front. The more weight transfer (such as on slicks) the more you are unloading the rear, and the closer you are getting to the limit of rear brake bias. OEM's ere on the side of safety and are very conservative with rear brake bias... they really aren't in the business of tuning for maximum stopping distance, they need to make the brakes work in all conditions for all cars for all tires... so compromises are made. However, to also be conservative, we are officially *recommending* that if you are NOT running one of the SBG Designed front brake kits, that you run a pad split to reduce rear bias. As said earlier, there is a lot of nuance to static bias and with all of the potential variables dictating front weight transfer, it's hard to come up with a general "safe" recommendation, that works for track cars with slicks to street cars with street tires and low friction pads, that don't generate as much front weight transfer.

Our official 'conservative' recommendation is, run one step lower friction pad in the rear if you're not using one of the SBG Designed front brake kits.

Hope that helps a bit.

Interesting, they are a few JDM companies that already make a kit like this....

Links? The big problem with the jdm companies is after cost of shipping and exchange rates you're probably better off w/ the Sakebomb kit..

Production is complete and our components are heading to the finishing shop for Mil-spec hard anodizing. We would like to thank everyone who's made the jump to pick up one of these kits, we're down to five unsold brake systems! For anyone still interested in picking up a competition grade rear brake kit for their S2000 (or our front Competition AP 325mm setup for that matter), our introductory sale is over at the end of the month, or when our initial production run sells out. We'd like to thank the S2ki community for your support, we know you guys are a discerning crowd, so your interest and business means a lot to us!

Wow, I literally did not know that existed! It's honestly a very good feeling to see other companies doing a similar setup, as it is validation that we set down the right path! That's pretty damn cool actually. The amazing part is (and we did not cheat here) we actually used the SAME rotor as they did (the high-spec RX7 RZ rotor) however we reworked the offset of our hat to make it fit the S2000 and not require any grinding of the caliper. We also created a FULL retrofit kit for not only the bracket to hold the caliper (like they did) but all of the rotational and e-brake interface brackets required to make the kit work on the S2000. That's pretty cool to see other companies making something similar but reading the description, all they sell is the caliper bracket itself (it's a very partial kit, install it and you'll understand). The RX8 caliper is not a bolt on affair without the custom rotational and ebrake mounting brackets we created.

It looks like it's $400 before shipping from Japan, requires you to take a belt sander to the caliper to grind away for clearance, requires a rotor centering ring (FD rear hub is a larger diameter that S2K, does not include any of the VERY important ebrake rotational brackets and relocation brackets, etc. Then you need the rotors, and we know from experience (as we import them) the cast 1 piece straight vane rotors are $500 imported. So with shipping and import its around $1000. It's apparent that we set down the right path, but it also looks like we vastly undervalued our brake setup, which includes caliper brackets, mounting brackets, ebrake brackets, rotational brackets, 2024 hats, directional curved vane rotors, all mil-spec hard anodized. In the future we may have to re-visit our price points for this setup, it's dirt cheap compared to everything else out there, for what you get.

Anyway, it's good to see others in Japan did the same thing... KANPAI to our Japanese SakeBomb doppleangers!

Since you're comparing your kit to other ones here's another one I was looking at previously:

http://altex002.web.fc2.com/mycars/s...rearbrake.html

It uses an rx7 rear caliper and rx7 rz rotor as you mentioned. It does include ebrake brackets/etc. The one good thing about this kit is the rx7 rear caliper maintains a better OEMish brake bias, but sourcing the calipers will obviously be more trouble than rx8s so perhaps it's not worth the headache.

To be honest, the RX8 caliper is quite good but comparable to the RX7. The problem with the RX7 calipers are they are not obtainable in numbers, due to production numbers and age, where the RX8 calipers are very much available - used on ebay, rebuilt from companies like centric, and new from the dealer. There is a slight increase in piston diameter with the RX8 caliper but it's not much over the RX7. As far as RZ rotors and RZ calipers, don't even bother, they're not available in the states, so you'd be making a difficult task an order of magnitude harder to find Japan-only RX7 parts. For all intents and purposes the RX8 caliper fits the bill in every way and is used by S2000 companies in Japan as well apparently.
