Sakebomb Garage Monster AP Racing Radi-CAL 6-Piston Big Brake Kit

8 Attachment(s)
Sakebomb Garage is proud to release the new reference competition brake system for the Honda S2000. Featuring the AP Racing CP9660 six piston, topology optimized, asymmetric brake caliper and CP3908 325x32mm 70 vane floating Rotor, we are very confident that this is the single highest performance brake system available for the Honda S2000. Two piston sets are available to work perfectly with either the OEM 282x12mm solid disk or with our Sakebomb Exclusive 314x20mm vented RX-8 caliper retrofit system.

The key benefits of the Radi-CAL design:

Massive Stiffness Increase- A 30+ % increase in both static and dynamic stiffness vs. conventional calipers allows for far less deflection under load, which means superior pedal feel & modulation, more even pad wear, and longer caliper service life.

Considerable Mass Reduction Through Topology Optimized Design- Removing all extraneous caliper mass lowers the caliper weight, despite the huge stiffness increases. Material is only placed in the areas that need the strength, eliminating both flex and weight.

Attachment 73407

Optimized Airflow- Air moves around and through the caliper more efficiently, providing superior heat evacuation and cooling. By shrink wrapping the caliper body around the pistons, the heat is able to quickly dissipate eliminating fluid fade and extending the life of your fluid.

Attachment 73408

Massive, Commonly Available Pad Shape- With pads measuring 6" x 2" and 18mm thick, we are confident that these are the largest pads available for the Honda S2000. The massive pads have more surface area to absorb and shed heat meaning you can continuously abuse your brakes without fear of fade. The 18mm thickness and un-equal bore, domed back, vented stainless steel pistons mean that your pads will never taper and last longer than any other brake system available for the S2000.

Attachment 73409

Optional Pad Tesnsion Springs- To eliminate the NVH often caused by calipers designed for racing, we offer pad tension springs to precisely locate the pads. This eliminates the tendency for pads to shift around causing squeeling under light braking. With the addition of pad tension springs your competition grade brake system will be just as civil as your stock Honda sliding calipers.

CP3908 325mmx32mm, 70 vane, J-Hook Fully Floating Rotor

Best Iron Alloy in Motorsports- AP Racing has been designing brake components for more than 50 years. They've had their components on cars that have won more than 750 Formula 1 races! On any given race weekend, AP J Hook discs can be found on 75% or more of the NASCAR Sprint Cup grid. AP has learned from these experiences, and have developed a proprietary iron alloy with extreme durability.

Attachment 73411

70 Directional Curved Cooling Vanes- Increased vane count provides maximum cooling for a given rotor size. This provides the highest level of cooling with the lowest thermal mass of any rotor of it's size. Additionally the added support of the increase vane count provides support to the faces of the disk eliminating the distortion and hot spots that causes cracks and pad deposits.

Attachment 73412

Exclusive AP Racing J-Hook Slot Pattern- During exhaustive R&D testing, AP's J Hook design was found to create a constant pathway of evenly distorted material on the face of the disc. The hooks overlap radially to promote even heat distribution/distortion. In addition to reducing cracking, the even heating of the disc also helps provide an even transfer layer of pad material on the disc when you bed them in. Additionally, the J Hook slot pattern produces a greater number of leading edges for the pads to bite into for more even heat distribution, less propensity to crack, and cleaner pad material transfer during bed-in.

Not sure why someone would want 6 pistons on an S2000, but the AP Radical is incredible caliper design. They basically did the actual analysis of what forces are on the caliper and discovered something that should have been obvious but...obviously...wasn't. That is, the bracket holding the caliper is only on one side. When it is braking there is a huge twisting force on the caliper.

They then the designed a caliper with the mass and location of mass to resist those forces and shaved everything that wasn't. To the best of my knowledge, this is unique to AP.

This is a writeup that includes some articles about the design for F3 and for stock cars.: https://www.essexparts.com/news-blog...-radical-story

"Two piston sets are available to work perfectly with either the OEM 282x12mm solid disk or with our Sakebomb Exclusive 314x20mm vented RX-8 caliper retrofit system."

Any more details on this? Are you talking about using a 2-piston AP caliper to go along with the 6 piston front setup?

Sorry, two sizes of pistons are available in the front caliper to match either the stock rear calipers or our RX-8 rear BBK.

Ah ok.

How does the wheel fitment template for the CP9660 compare to your competition AP racing front BBK (with AP CP8350)?
If my wheels clear the AP CP8350 will they clear the CP9660?

Using essexparts.com as a hint for pricing it looks like this kit will be ~57% more expensive than your competition AP racing front BBK?

Judging by the wheels used in the pictures on the 2nd post, they might use the same templates. That looks like a 17x10 +50 rs2 judging by how comfortably the 255's sit on them.

We are working on a fitment template but they need a bit more space than the Wilwood or AP 4-piston kits. The wheels pictured are 17x10+50 Advan RS-II. We still haven't set final pricing but we should have an update in the next week.
