SCCA CST Build questions
A couple of years ago I switched from a dedicated track S2000 to a weekender street S2000. I'm thinking of getting back into autox and prepping for CST. Previously it was an Optima Street Car Challenge car and an STR car before that. I inherited a lot of parts and added some of my own. Trying to get back into the SCCA rules mindset. I don't expect to competitive, at least for a while, but since I have most of the parts I would like to ensure legality for current and future mods just in case. Would love some input on the fine details of the SCCA rule book. Car is a MY07
Mods I have that I'm 99% sure are CST legal
Thanks!
Mods I have that I'm 99% sure are CST legal
- Karcepts Front Sway Bar
- MX5 Rear Sway bar
- Ohlins DFV
- K&N Intake
- J's Racing Header
- high flow cat
- Front offset delrin upper control arm bushings
- Girodisc 2 piece rotors
- 17x9 TR Motorsports C3
- Hondata FlashPro
- 1000cc injectors
- Koyo Radiator
- Hard Dog roll bar (soft top and most plastics still in place)
- Radium oil catch can
- Diff spacers - does this count as changing geometry?
- J's Racing S1 lower ball joints - These versions don't have roll center adjustment so I'm 99% sure they're legal. Are these and the Spoon ones still the only legal versions? Or has something changed since STR? Wouldn't mind using cheaper Megan ones.
- Momo Monte Carlo steering wheel, nrg hub, nrg quick release - legal but it says should weigh the same as OEM
- Innovative motor mounts - legal but it says should weigh the same as OEM
- Innovative transmission mount - legal but it says should weigh the same as OEM
- Seibon CR Wing replica (carbon fiber) - I have an OEM trunk if this is illegal but 14.2.F.1 says "It is a standard or optional production part which could be ordered on the US model vehicle as part of the base package or part of a higher trim package. The trim package must be classed in any of the current Street Touring classes.
Parts must be installed as directed by the manufacturer. Exact replicas, including weight, from alternate sources are also permitted." - Bayson R 20th Anniversary Bumper replica (polypropylene) - I have an OEM bumper if illegal but would like to keep this on. Honda has a part number for this and could be bought through Honda, but this only came out 10 years after S2000 production ended and was limited production. 14.2.F.2 states "14.2.F.2 It is listed in the vehicle manufacturer’s US accessory catalog for that vehicle for normal highway use. This does not allow for parts sold through a manufacturer’s performance catalog (e.g., Ford Racing, HPD, Mazdaspeed, Mopar Performance, Mugen, NISMO, SPT, TRD, etc).
Parts must be installed as directed by the manufacturer. Exact replicas, including weight, from alternate sources are also permitted." - Hybrid Racing short shifter
- Race seats
- Big brake kit
- Exhaust
- OS Giken
- Lighter wheels
- rear ball joints for camber?
Thanks!

Mods I have that I'm 99% sure are CST legal
- Karcepts Front Sway Bar
- MX5 Rear Sway bar <- i would move to the karcepts rear bar for quick adjustability for different sites. i adjust the rear bar more than the front for balance.
- Ohlins DFV
- K&N Intake
- J's Racing Header
- high flow cat
- Front offset delrin upper control arm bushings
- Girodisc 2 piece rotors
- 17x9 TR Motorsports C3
- Hondata FlashPro
- 1000cc injectors not legal you would need oem cc sized injector
- Koyo Radiator
- Hard Dog roll bar (soft top and most plastics still in place)
- Radium oil catch can
- Diff spacers - does this count as changing geometry?

Or has something changed since STR? Wouldn't mind using cheaper Megan ones. if you already have off set bushings, this isnt needed, i'd rather have offset bushings or spc upper joint than the lower joint for fender clearance and wheel choice.
- Momo Monte Carlo steering wheel, nrg hub, nrg quick release - legal but it says should weigh the same as OEM
- Innovative motor mounts - legal but it says should weigh the same as OEM - i wouldnt bother with these, it'll drive u crazy more than it helps use the megan/hard race rubber mounts
- Innovative transmission mount - legal but it says should weigh the same as OEM

Parts must be installed as directed by the manufacturer. Exact replicas, including weight, from alternate sources are also permitted." - Hybrid Racing short shifter
- Race seats
- Big brake kit - not required for autox, but the kit you pick determines your wheel choice
- Exhaust
- OS Giken
- Lighter wheels
- rear ball joints for camber? if you're at cst competitive height no rear camber kit required
Thanks!
Answer above looks correct but for more clarification, yes you can do the J's S1 lower ball joints if you want. The ones without roll center adjustment. Motor and transmission mounts are fine. CR wing and lip are currently legal but there is a proposal pending to make it not legal so be careful on that one. Short shifter is currently not legal but looks like it will be next season. The 20th anniversary bumper should be fine, it's grey area but it doesn't seem performance oriented anyway I think you'll be OK. Maybe if you're planning to win a national championship then write a letter in for clarification. I think the motor mount weight should be fine but the steering wheel may be an issue weight wise, just weigh the assembly and stick some washers to it or something to make weight if needed. Diff spacers are fine.
