Default Should I switch to RA1's

I currently have SSR competitions with A048's on them. I still have quite a bit of tread on them but i'm just considering my options right now.

Specs:

Wheels
SSR Competitions
18x8 and 18x9

Advan A048
225/40/18 and 265/35/18

I have heard a lot of good things about the RA1's and I am really considering them. I was planning on running a 275/35/18 in the rear and a 225/40/18 in the front. I would like to run a 235 in the front but they are not available in that size.

Keep in mind that I drive to and from the track on these tires. Are there any other alternatives that I should give though to? Any problems with the sizes I am planning on running? Any opinions on the A048's vs. the RA1's? Sorry for all the questions, im just trying to decide which tires to go with next. When all 4 are purchased, they are very similarly priced (within about $20).

Thanks in advance!

there's a 245-18 RA-1 to go with the 275-18...

my friend has had the Yoko's and I have the RA-1's... RA-1's, when shaved, offers slightly better grip than the A048's... and is a little quieter, if that matters... you should definitly try a set to see...

as can be expected though...shaved RA-1's are bad in the rain if you gotta drive home... its still driveable... but slowly...

What compound Advan 48 are you using? i know they come in M/MH... Not sure what the RA1's would be considered(Possibly M?), but I personally think they are too soft in the hot summer months and was thinking of using the Advan harder compound during those months.

The RA1's having been working out very well the past few seasons overall.

Thanks for the response guys! I believe the A048's I have are the MH compound.

I was considering the 245 in the front but I am worried about rubbing issues. The rear is not a problem because I plan on either rolling or cutting the fenders soon. A little understeer does not bother me too much either because I would rather be safe than sorry

Can't the RA1's be flipped side to side to increase the life of them? If so, that is definately something to consider.

You can flip RA-1s, everyone does.

Just what I wanted to hear. I think that will make my decision!
