Here's some entertainment from yesterday. This was the 2011 Nationals east course mapped onto our lot. It worked out nicely, very fun course.

Jan 29 Autocross • Marana Airport (Tucson, AZ)

Here is the actual map used at the local event.

Very nice! How did you guys make that course flow!? :) Those 90* turns had to be wider.

Here's what happens when you subject your wife to an "STR" S2000 (minus any suspension work) after she is use to a well balanced BMW on Hoosiers...

As a comparison to Random1's video here was my run from the same event in an AP2. The big "rock out" center section was right on the stock AP2 limiter. The few runs I did go to third on I looked back and found that it ended up lowering my overall speed through that section.

Now with my driving there are other issues of course, but I think it is a nice comparison to show between the two cars.

Also in my car the 800F/600R spring rates are softer then Random1's and I think the composure of his car vs. mine in transitional elements is visible.

It was a lot different... Nationals offsets through the middle were more drastic, ours had two additional offsets but was faster. After that there were four super harsh 90 turns, we only did one basically. Nationals was super tight with a cone at the apex of each corner. So we did the same shape, but with much more line choice. Couple other differences also.

The Chicago box near the finish was also flipped. The overall course was 2-3 seconds faster than nationals. There were on site tweaks to the course map otherwise I would post it hear. Maybe I'll update it to reflect reality since everyone liked it so much and want to run it again some day. It was very addicting for sure.

Here's my video from nationals for reference (2+ seconds slower).

I have to say, I'm very jealous of the weather you guys get down there, at this time of year. This is what it looked like weekend before last here in rainy Vancouver, Canada:

UBCSCC Slush Series #4, January 23rd, 2012. (University of British Columbia Sports Car Club)

Recorded using a Drift Innovations HD170 Gorilla Podded to the passenger seat.

Yes, that's sheet ice off the racing line. Usually the winter events here are just wet and cold. This time, the liquid water all froze overnight, and when we arrived in the morning, the pad was literally a skating rink. Untimed runs all morning, work crews with metal shovels clearing the line at lunch, competition runs in the afternoon.

Needless to say, the STR S2k stays parked for the Slush Series events.. In that video, I'm codriving a mildly prepped STU STI on RE-11s.

In order to give this post some STR material, here's a video from one of my first autocross events, earlier this summer:

UBCSCC West Coast Autocross Championship #2, July 3rd, 2011.

Recorded using an iPhone 4 & Harry's Laptimer suctioned to the wind deflector. Earbud microphone is taped down behind the drivers seat.

Car is a stock 2002, oem sized star spec tires, and a k&n intake. Driver has learned a fair bit since then ;)

P.S. Love the Starships at your facility, too

I remember that club! I have autocrossed with you guys a couple of times, this would have been 5-6 years ago, we would drive up from Bellingham.

Hey, rain or not, at least you have the slush season. Where I am now it's pretty much NOTHING from November to March, I would take a cold and rainy autocross right now in a heartbeat!

Here's our first 2012 event from this past Sunday. This was my first time autocrossing on Hankook RS3s and having the Gendron 1.25" hollow bar. I shifted to 3rd way too early, I should have waited until after that right hand turn on the back stretch. Ah well, I could have easily been in the 37s.
