Tow Hooks
 

Hi guys,

currently looking at front & rear tow hooks. Ideally some that can fold down.

Any suggestions & comments would be appreciated, thanks!

I use a Sparco Tow strap bolted to the frame where the OEM tow hooks go. Works great.

^^^ Great, as long as you never need them. Who knows the quality there. ^^^

Straps won't puncture radiators and doors or even shins / skin.

How does the strap work if you get pulled out at a slight angle?
Seems it might damage the bumper around that small stock opening.

I use 2 oem hooks. I install them before the first session and remove at the end of the event. No perminent modifications, large enough to mount a transponder, seems strong enough to survive a useage or two (eBay hooks will not), and no excessive cost. I guess the only downside is the car doesn't have that sweet "racekar" look when not on track.

I use straps on the factory mounts. When my LR hub snapped, they picked up the car by the strap and it was fine to hold the (swinging) weight of the car.

I personally use OEM in the front, and a Takata strap for the back. I leave them in at all times. The front doesn't bug me as I already have a longer walk around the front due to the splitter. However if you are set on folding hooks there are several manufacturers that make them. A browse on one of the many popular s2k oriented online retailers will net you many options.

On my MY00 the threads start about 1" (going from memory) behind the bumper cover. I use the eBay hook because it's simple to remove the bumper cover plug and screw the hook in for each track day. I'm having a hard time visualizing how to do that with a strap. Any pictures?
