Was looking info buyin a used FJ Cruiser to pull my trailer.

Any feedback on that car as a tow car ?!

Otherwise what about a second hand dodge ram or ford 150 ?!

My budget is around 15000 although I might changed it (like for the FJ cruiser which is not available at tht price but I like the retro design.

Any suggestions?!
I don't see anywhere where you detail the trailer you're using. You can't really pick a vehicle nor can anyone really recommend a vehicle without knowing your requirements. There's a big difference in weight between a larger enclosed trailer and an 18' aluminum open trailer.

I think the FJ is gunna be a little short on power. I borrowed my friends 4 runner v8 before to tow, and i dont think i would want to use that same chassis with a V6 and try to pll a car up and down hill at all.
well jus tuntil now I was towing with a Mercedes 4cyl 2.2 liter turbo...that was quite OK 122HP and 320 Nm of torque

the trailer incl the car is only about 3200lbs

I did not realize how hard the F-150 with 5.0L was struggling to pull a 4500 lb trailer until I started towing with the F-250 with 7.3L PowerStroke. That 8,000 lb. SCCA trailer pushed the F-150 past my exit and my little 4500 lb. car hauler alwost pushed me past the entrance to Little Talladega.

For that weight, a Ridgeline. Plus it's a Honda

Mine has bee hauling 4000-5000 lbs, open and closed trailers, for almost 3 years, over the grapevine too, and neven a hickup.

used Ford F250 SD, towing package, 7.3 liter turbo diesel, for $14,000.
Just curious what year & mileage you got that deal for?

I got a 04 Silverado 2500HD ext cab, 2WD, 6.0L gas, W/T grade (so rubber floors, and hand crank windows but cloth seats, CD, A/C), with 38,000 miles, and a SnugTop cap for $13,500. $300 dollars later for a GM OEM cruise control stalk and Prodigy brake controller and I'm a towing fool. I don't daily drive it, it's just towing the enclosed trailer and the occasional big Costco trip.

Ridgeline is great if your trailer is under 5000lbs. I've done a lot of towing with those and also the MDX (open trailers).

It's a 2000 Ford F250 Lariat Super Duty, Super Cab, 4WD, short bed, 7.3 liter Powerstroke diesel, with all the trimmings, in excellent condition, with 129,000 miles on it. It was owned by a neighbor, with enough money and sense to take good care of it. The price was somewhat below "private party" blue book, but there was a lot of comfort in buying from a neighbor.

That's a great price. 129k is just getting broken in good for the 7.3L. I would have jumped on that, too.
