Ive been using trackmaster for some time and am a big fan. I like the ability to export the session to a Google maps file for analysis (or do the analysis right on the device in the pits) and its very easy to configure, with accuracy typically (barring user error) being within thousandths of official timing.

I use Trackmaster for HPDE personal reference times. It's a big buggy (tends to crash following the session and the automatic video/lap data sync doesn't work properly), but for tracking basic lap times and also capturing basic video of the session, it works well. Just be sure to bring your phone charger, as it is a major battery hog, especially when you are using the video capture feature.

i use trackmaster works well enough to sync with my gopro using Race Render 2. I stick the phone in the passenger side netting and it holds it just fine.

The Qstarz is excellent! Super small and compact, extremely easy to use, lightweight, battery that lasts all day, and an excellent display. The data logging is very powerful as well and the software used to analyze it is one of the betters ones I have seen and used.
The apps definitely work just fine as well, a dedicated lap timer will be a little more accurate though for sure.
If you decided to pick up a dedicated timer I highly recommend the Qstarz.
