I've tracked the S2k for the first time last week and it was awesome! Incredibly fast for a pure showroom-stock car.

The first thing to give was the brakes: after a cooling lap, the front rotors were registering ~290

King motorsports is working on a complete ducting kit for the front brakes. But I'm not aware of any current or planned solution for the rears.

There are a number of brake upgrades for the rears, but I don't think any of them feature vented rear discs. Vented rears would probably solve the heat problem. But I've read that there are serious space constraints back there.

The service manual sez rotor thickness is 25mm front, 12mm rear. Is it so tight that another 13mm won't fit?

would love to hear of a good solution for cooling the rears. i've had serious rear brake fade issues.

And don't forget the rear rotors are not vented, which may be causing the high degree of temperature difference. Might I suggest some grooved and cross drilled rotors from MG Racing? :p

I haven't tracked the car since we put them on, but I MAY be out at Gingerman on May 14. Full report to follow...

Indeed. I'd like to know about that.
The front rotors probably cool a lot faster during the cooling lap, so this may explain some of the 200

I did an event on the Sebring short course which is known to be very hard on brakes. After about 10-15 mins on the track I would pull in the pits and the front brakes would be visibly smoking!! The real kicker was when I checked my tire pressure days later only to find my valve stem caps had melted :eek:! I guess I parked with my valves right next to my rotors a couple of times. I hope we can add brake ducting and remain in AS, because at the track it is needed. This was with street tires, so it will be worse with the extra grip of track tires.

Yes it is! That was the day I went from 80% pad depth to 0% in about 3 hours on OEM pads. That was also the day that I decided to switch to Porterfield R4S pads :D. They have performed much better than OEM pads, and I recommend them for anyone contemplating DE events.
