Transmission Synchro gone bad - recommendations?
#11
My first > second shift has crunched since I bought the car about 10 years ago - if I shift slowly it usualy doesn't happen.
So if it can't be remedied with any of the above advice and you can live with it it might just stay like that! - I have around 40k miles of auto-x and track miles on the trans.
When I use the car on the street it seemed to crunch less using GM synchromesh transmission fluid or the MTL 90 redline stuff

My AP1 does this shifting 3-4 when it's really hot. Street driving it's 100% fine, probably because it doesn't get as hot. I just shift a fraction of a second slower.
Edit: I also have the infamous 1-2 grind that dan_uk mentioned, but ironically that one only seems to happen during street driving. It seems to happen when shifting out of 1st from around 6-7k RPM, so I try to shift a little before or after that.
