Tuning N/A AP1

Are any of you in tuned N/A AP1's and willing to share the tune? I would like it for research and learning purposes. I know some people like to smooth the ignition tables while some just add timing to the entire table... same with fueling. I'm not a stranger to tuning, but I would like to see what people are using in their tunes and their impressions of the characteristics.

I'm curious how many NA pre-2006 cars are tuned at all. And with what aftermarket ECUs. And which remain road legal for emissions.

Lowering VTEC is possible with a high flow cat which puts significantly more power in the mid rpm band where it's very useful. Dynos and atmospheric conditions vary so widely it's impossible to make direct comparisons between cars.

An additional 20HP at the rear wheels for $1000 seems to be what it costs (not counting any intake and exhaust changes). But that seems to be the limit of power gains.

I agree that mid range is definitely what you want to go for in the AP1 (S2000's in general) and that's what I was wanting to tune the ignition maps for. I'm coming from the tuning logic of HP being the maximum potential of the engine and TQ being how quickly you can reach that potential. I was just curious about using a factory type ignition table vs. a smoother ignition map and on track impressions of both. I can always create two maps and run both on the track myself, but I thought it would also be nice to have a conversation with others who are running one or the other.

I just bought a cheap greddy emanage and have been running the karcepts tune. Huge, huge difference. Knocked off a good 3 seconds at my local track.

It can't be that easy, can it?

I'm running the same ECU/tune. I'm at 4k VTEC and 8800 redline on my F22. I think the whole package is ~$1100 but it's well worth it.

I'm also running the Karcepts unit, worth every penny.

It can and it is. Plug and play, no need for wideband O2 sensor.

The issue is Brian is really brilliant. So while they may be newer, better piggyback ECUs, his tune is well developed and works.
