Video @ Buttonwillow CW13 5/20/06

I recently went to buttonwillow with the redline group to run configuration 13 clockwise (CW 13). Although there was lots of traffic pretty much throughout the day, i still had fun. It was my first track experience running configuration 13, so i knew my time wasn't going to be good anyways.

Anyhow, i managed my best lap around the middle of the day and got a 2:10.22. I was going through the speedventures data base and couldn't find any track events running CW13. Can any of you guys who have ran CW13 before post your times (along with what tires you were using) so i can have a rough estimate of how i am doing?

Maxrev was also nice enough to let me take his car for a couple laps and man, it is a big treat to drive an R-compound equipped car. I managed to pull a 2:03.2xx with his car effortlessly. Where as with my car, my hair is falling out getting a 2:10! I definitely have some work to do with my suspension tuning.

This was 13, I'm pretty sure it was CW but not positivee.

Both cars were on Street tires, the times were dave driving in one car and todd southwell in the other.

Yikes, i've got quite a ways to go. Thanks for the link

edit: Do you know what modifications (if any) were done to the cars? 2:05 is blazing fast for street tires :o.

How many seconds between 13CW and 1CW?

The OTC cars were prepped similarly to maxrev's (one was Richard's white car). They were on "cheater" street tires (fat Sumis and BFGs, shaved to 2 or 3 32nds, multiple fresh sets). With weight reduction and other mods, they had grip similar to a more stock-ish car on R-comps (about 1.2 lateral g max).

I recall OTC was CCW, not CW.

Interesting. Would you consider 255/40/17 Falken Azenis as "cheater" street tires as well since they're pretty fat? :D

Richard, I'm wondering if i can just use CCW times to compare my times with since it seems that CW and CCW times from the SV database are pretty similar when comparing the same drivers?

Yes those are cheater tires, and definitely better than the Sumitomos that Dave had ;) . But his car was somewhat stripped.

I don't think you can compare different directions, but I haven't really compared them.

Nice videos. Always nice to watch S2k in-car videos on the track. Thanks for sharing.

^ What he said. :) What's on the dash/windshield of Maxrev's car there?

Looked like your car was a little too loose out there, you could probably pick up some time by taming that rear end. Maxrev's looked much more stable.
