VSA, VSA Activation, ABS Lights ON
- 2006 AP2
- No indicators prior the roll bar install (and car has not been in an accident)
- Now with VSA light, VSA Activation Light, and ABS light on
- NO errors on ODB-2
- Pertinent fuses checked.
- Got car in the air. Checked brakes/line/Sensors at all 4 corners and everything looks good.
- All relevant connectors checked (seat belts/seats)
- Not sure what else to check?
- Any ideas?
Is there a cost effective way of getting a Honda "HDS" reader?
- Amazon/Ebay have some units with little to no information on them...

Did you "stretch", cut or tear a rear ABS sensor wire while doing your install?

Have you actually driven the car since the roll bar install? I had those errors on the dash when I installed my bar but they all went away after just two blocks of driving. "All systems go" after that.

THIS^ although when that happened on my '06, the parking brake light (red illuminated "BRAKE" light in dash) came on..... I think some sensors or something just go bad after a while. I used to leave the VSA on at the track. Sometimes after a long session of kicking in excessively it would deactivate and the VSA light would come on. After 2 years at the track my VSA no longer works at all it is just always off. It hasn't bothered me because the car is faster anyway with it off - so I did not pursue it. Just my experience.

Yeah, the reason I asked is because right after I got my 06 the VSA light would come on after a track session - Now I always turned it off when on track so it must have been something other than the normal VSA disabled lamp. Had me worried, but it would go back out after the car was restarted.
Long story short a my brake fluid was low enough that with the sloshing on track it would trigger the low fluid warning and that would also trigger the VSA lamp. Topped off the fluid, and problem solved.

To add:
1. Roll bar no cage.
2. Brake fluid @ appropriate level and flushed for coming track season.
3. Rotors checked (front was vibrating)
- found crack through and through....
- rotors changed'
4. No "stretch", cut or tear a rear ABS sensor wire while doing your install.
5. Alternator swapped out
- went bad over the winter (had noted flickering in the past)
6. Car has been driven
7. "resetting VSA" did not work (did a google search)
8. I can get the airbag light to go off by re-installing the passanger seat.
- anyway of leaving the airbags on (for the driver at least) with passenger seat out
NEW THEORY.
- During this off season, I had to replace the passenger side axle (CV boot tore--wheel side and I didnt feel competent to replace boot (for now))
- I replaced it with an after market axle.
- I didn't think much of it initially, but the wheel speed sensor (the magnetic bit) isn't complete over the metal ring that is indented (which I suppose is used to calculate wheel speed)
- If the sensor doesn't overligh it competely and doesn't read, I suspect that the car may not be getting a wheel speed reading and the ecu shuts down the abs/vsa...
- All this could be confirmed using the HDS tool, which i dont have
- Or I could get an OEM (properly fitting axle)
- I thought about manning up and repairing the old axle, but the ball joint was a PITA to get out
Plans moving foward.
- car feels fine on the road.
- will go to an open lap day and "test" the car
- as long as power isnt being pulled by the ECU I'm willing to leave as is
- I was already not using the VSA on the track.
- Will have to see how much the ABS makes a difference.
