I thought it would be interesting, if not a little off topic, to see what everyone raced before the S2000. Some of you may know that I ran a '93 VW Corrado in G-Stock, going up against the Type-R's. Although not considered a good car for the class, I was able to get a 1st and 2nd at National Tours and a 4th, two 5ths, and a 6th at ProSolos leaving me in 7th for ProSolo points. I didn't drive well at Nationals, ending up just .005 seconds from the trophies... beaten by none other than Jean Kinser in an Audi TTq. It was my first year of driving a fully prepped car (custom shocks, fresh rubber all the time) and doing a full National schedule. I'm very pleased at how the year went, having not expected to do that well in an underdog car. Next year I won't have that excuse, partnering with Brad Lamont (soloiiracer) and Juliann (Juliann... duh) in our Yellow S2K! Here are some nostalgia shots of the 'ol Corrado, now retired to daily driver duty:

North Course at Nationals... look at that lean:

Nice pics Jason.
I do have pitures but haven't got around to scan them. Anyway here's my list.
1989 Civic Si (SoloX)
1990 Civic Si (SoloX)
Dogde Daytona-tube frame chassis (GT-3)
FF2000 (Canada)
Formula Dodge (Skip Barber)
Dodge Neon (Showroom stock a la Puerto Rico)
I'm taking the S2K to a couple of SoloX and track days this year since a deal with Toyota never happened but I'm shooting to drive in our version of showroom stock next year a Ford Focus ZX3 hatchback. They may not have the power but handle pretty decent. Will see.

I autocrossed my Accord Ex coupe with eibach springs and kyb agxs. I did ok when I was in HS, but after lowering the car, I was in STS and got my a$$ kicked by GTIs and Impreza RS's.

I ran my previous car, an '96 Integra GS-R, in a few time trials at Willow Springs, Streets of Willow and Buttonwillow and trophied in first or second each time. Never got around to autocrossing it though.
My last racing before that was autocrossing in '74-'76 in a 1974 Celica GT. I won a bunch of trophies, including some regional meets with other clubs from Ohio and Indiana. There were dozens of sports car clubs in Detroit at that time and you had your choice of at least 2-3 different autocrosses every weekend all summer long. I don't remember any of the clubs being SCCA though. They were all governed by the Detroit Council of Sports Car Clubs.

I don't have any of my past cars on line to post. The person I used to co-drive with most often has moved to the west coast and will be co-driving with Chase.
I did manage to pull off a regional BS championship in 99 in a 1990 Miata.
I've owned and autoXed:
64 Corvette
73 Corvette
90 Miata
84 CRX
00 S2K
I've co-driven at various events:
911 C4 AS
96 Vette SS
944T AS
93 MR2T ASP
87 MR2 CSP
89 MR2 CSP
Misc. others
The last one I drove was the most fun...

here is the one I have now
here is the one before it
I also had a GT4 510 but I haven't scaned a pic of it yet
and
a 944 autox and timetrials in PCA
15 years of racing cars I have a room full of trophies.
I have been thinking about using some of the placks for firewood .

Until the S2000, I had only run a '79 Scirroco a few times in autocross in the early 80s. Though not nearly as dramatic, it looks like the Corrado has the same inside rear wheel lift as the Scirroco. It was really funny watching them and the Rabbits (now Golf for you youngsters ) leaning on 3 wheels around the turns.
