It would definitely release for me if I didn't apply a lot of tension and really hold myself back in the seat. There is a chance for the lock to disable when going up steep inclines, but even in that situation if enough tension is applied initially I haven't had any issues. The Modifry unit is a great idea though and makes it super easy, glad it works well.
