I can't say what works, but I found some things that didn't work this weekend. I tried to launch at 3000 on the first run & the engine bogged totally. On the next run I tried 4000 and I got a little chirp from the tires before the engine bogged. On my third and final run I punched it up to about 6000 revs and rather than the tires spinning, the clutch slipped. Unfortunately as I was on track tires, I didn't realize the clutch was slipping until I noticed the odor it was spewing, but lets just say I won't be launching hard any longer. This was in a 2002 which according to some accounts I have read, has an improved clutch. Yikes! This is the first car I have had that will spin the clutch before it will spin the tires, and thats after years of corvettes, porsches and a viper. (among others) I don't think I would have the same problem with street tires, but still, it's not like the 245 Michelin pilot sport cup tires are drag slicks.

MAKE SURE you break the tires loose!! If not, your drivetrain takes a lot more shock than it should. When I broke my half shaft it was after a launch at too low an rpm. I thought I could go lower b/c it was cold and the tires would break free easier, but it's better to stay above 6k no matter what!

6500 seems to work best for me.

OK, i understand 6000-6500 is best launch revs .....but do you pop lutch or feather out kinda quickly???

For the life of the driveline: off idle.

For performance: 6500-7500 RPM. Hold the clutch pedal with the very tip of your shoe, adjust engine speed to taste, then slide you shoe down so the pedal pops up.

Anything inbetween is bad news. :eek2:

Does nobody else's clutch just spin when they do this?? Or do you guys have aftermarket clutchs???
