Where to race your S2K

Krazik, looking at the '11 GCR and T3 rules for the S2000, your T3 description in the first post needs updating. Here's a suggested update from your original 2007 posting:
[i]SCCA:
- Only class where you can take a s2k to the National Run-Offs STU works too! A bay area competitor finished 9th at the 2011 runoffs in his T3/STU CR.

Hi
We are racing in an endurance series at Ebisu Circuit, near Nihonmatsu in Fukshima Prefecture, Japan, it's about 300km North East of Tokyo.
Races are 6 and 12 hr and our S2000 is currently running in the 'N' Road Registered Class.
There is little modification apart from the usual safety equipment, but the splitter and wing worked well and helped to keep us planted in a very wet 6hr race in April, when we arrived home in 3rd place

Bumping this thread to ask the NASA guys a question: where would my SCCA STU road race car fit?
~2650lbs with me in it, ~230whp on a dynapack, would be less on an inertial dyno. My cage is SCCA legal (obviously) and terminates in 6 spots but there are additional welds to the chassis beyond that. It also has an aftermarket ECU and fuel cell.

Did you do anything internally to engine? If no most likely Honda Challenge H1 legal. If yes you probably have to go PT and take many points for extra cage points plus engine mods will put you in PTA---barely. You might even have to go ST2.

Will have to see if anyone runs H1 in the bay area anymore.
As for points, I worked out the points and I believe the point total is about 51. Since that puts me in PTA. Might be able to drop down to PTB if I removed some stuff.

SCCA:
T3 s2k new for 2007+, was in T2 in -2006
- Mostly stock, mods are expensive because of lots of rules.
- Only class where you can take a s2k to the National Run-Offs
Hope this helps...

Just a note on SCCA vs. NASA. Not trying to put anyone down, but I think the caliber of drivers in SCCA is higher than those in NASA. SCCA is larger, has been around longer, and has more opportunity. It is also more well-known and well respected in the racing world. NASA is still very much growing, but if there was some way to transfer between the two, that would be awesome. Until then, I'll stay with the SCCA. And I'm sure there is a GT class that allows all the modifications you could imagine (other than forced induction I think) for the S2000, but then again, it's also for purpose built cars, meaning tube chassis race machines and not usually unibodies. The Production SCCA classes are usually where you find high strung unibody cars. Everything from Alfa Romeo GTV6's to VW Rabbits to S2000's and Bugeye Sprites. Gotta love those Bugeyes!
