What about this line:

At all times during the term of this Agreement, Racer must maintain the race organization
affiliation set forth on the Registration Form and either (a) own and maintain the race car identified in
the Registration Form, which shall be used for racing purposes only and shall not be legal for use of
public ways
I race my car in Time Trials and Time Attacks, but it is also still street legal and I drive it to the events. Am I reading it correctly that I am not eligible for the program?

I think verification may be through VIN registration with your state and insurance.

[QUOTE=124Spider,Jul 29 2009, 07:19 PM] Mazda doesn't care whether I drive the car on the street or not; only that I can show race results from sanctioned events.

I've sent all the info in with "cone-dodger" results from my local SCCA region. I'll let you guys know if I get accepted. I'm pretty sure the language in that contract is just a "CYA" clause for Honda.

Wow, I didn't know pointing out irony turned into "crying" and "complaining". All I was saying was that calling a car a "Club Racer", it's not unreasonable to expect the car to last under occasional race conditions. I am fully prepared for Honda to say they would not cover my car because I autocross and participate in track events and time trials. However, it would be nice if they recognized that occasional usage of vtec, 8k rpm, and high g turning should be covered. But I guess you heard me say "I f-ing hate honda for not letting me build a full blown race car and then covering me when I can't run 36k miles consistantly at 8k rpm".
It's not about lasting; it's about them covering their ass if and when you drive your car into a tire wall or some other such thing.

For those that didn't actually read the terms of the program, do realize it says that it only applies to non street legal race cars. Even if you time trial or race your daily/weekend car, it apparently does not apply

Warranty <> insurance. From my understanding, a warranty would ensure that under appropriate usage (which is a debatable point) the parts on a car should function as intended and not break. Whereas running into a wall is not covered by a warranty, but under the umbrella of insurance (when not racing). Insurance (again, while not racing) covers accidents and not mechanical failure. I guess an accident could be caused by mechanical failure but based on my understanding of warranties, that should be a non-issue for Honda as they are only responsible for the parts and not any resulting accident due to fault of the part.

If I were Honda/Mazda/whoever, I wouldn't warrant a race car, either. As one who went from frequently lapping my S2000, to racing a Spec Miata, I can't describe how different the two activities are.

The wear and tear on a full race car, wheel-to-wheel racing, is just hugely different from lapping. More things break, more frequently. The stress put on the entire system is much greater.

If you want to race a car, be prepared to foot the bill for anything that breaks, whether from a crash or from wear. It's simply not reasonable, IMO, to expect the manufacturer to apply a warranty meant for street cars to a car that's raced wheel-to-wheel.
