Default 01 S2k VS. 2006 Lamborghini Gallardo

So im driving home talkin to a gf mine on the phone mindin my own business on the highway. i see these two low ass lights almost touchin the ground comin up quickly behind me. the car slowly passes me and i see that its a yellow lamborghini gallardo. now this dude lives in my area so this is like the 5-6 time that i've seen the guy and since im the only guy with an S2000 in my street i think hes noticed me too. so hes slowly passing and the just floors it and pulls away so fast, so im like, girl i gotta call u back. so i hangup the phone and start chasing the gallardo. i catch up to him and shift back into Vtec range so he can hear my engine too. anyways, the dude wanted to play so we slowed down and put the car in second right below vtec waiting for his signal. we both gun it and the same time and he starts walking me, i only went to the end of 4th and i think he probably had like 5 cars on my by the time we shut down. then we raced another two times, once from a stop and another roll. i honestly think i didnt do that bad for the price i paid and the horsepower we have compared to a gallardo.
Very exciting races and i dont think it was that bad of a loss.

Foot notes: 1st race, lost by 5 lenghts by end of 4th
2nd race, from a dig, lost by 4-5 again by end of 3rd
3rd race, from a roll, lost by 5 car lenghts.

Ask any racer, any real racer, it doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile, a win is a win!

Is your S2000 modded? I'm thinking it's supercharged to be within 5 carlengths of Gallardo.

nah its about accurate. I was lucky enough to have my ass handed to me by a gallardo (as if I expected to win hah).

I just had intake / exhaust and I lost by 5-6 carlengths from 50-115mph.

Once I get my SC, it'll be a different story

Am I mistaken in thinking a Gallardo traps at around 118mph? That's a very far cry from S2000's 100-mph trap speed. It should leave a near-stock S2000 farther behind in such a long speed contest. Even a stock C5 should leave a stock S2000 5 car lengths behind in such a race, much less a Gallardo. But whatever!

P.S. Maybe you guys just have a depth perception disability, thinking that it was 5 car lengths when it was actually much more.

Very mistaken. That's at BEST. I've seen an orange gallardo on the drag strip run a 12.9 @ 109? I know the ET was 12.9, but the trap speed was around that figure.

One time on the way to crystal cove, I was behind a Gallardo and an old modded Stingray. They both downshifted and took a little run at it. I was about 4 cars behind when they took off. I said "why not, they won't even know I'm racing them". So I downshift too just to gauge how fast they are...let's just say they only walked away. I expected them to pull away like I was standing still. From 40-90 they only pulled about 11/2-2 lengths on me.

One incident doesn't really account for all. The number of ill-driven S2000s I've seen which have gotten horrible times (high 14s, 15s @ low 90s mph) at the tracks is huge, but doesn't really account for the car's true capability.

I'm saying the Gallardo's true capability is low 12s @ around 118 mph in the 1/4mi, which should leave a near-stock S2000 far, far behind in such a race. But whatever! This is a street encounter, so who the heck knows. At least in theory, a Gallardo should leave a stock S2000 MUCH farther behind in such a race than 5 car lengths.
