The late 80s 944 Turbo was a pretty fast car out of the box. The Turbo S was even faster (mid 13s stock, if I remember right). Plenty of aftermarket for them and with a couple thousand in mods can run into the 12s easy, if you can keep the turbos running on a 12-15 year old car.

Stock 86-88 are slower than the S2000 (217hp). 88 Turbo S, and 89+ are a bit faster (250hp). Car weighs in at 2700lbs, close to S2K. $100 chips (increased boost) will make 270/310hp depending on year. Every 944 Turbo I've seen has chips in them. When I first bought mine, owner said stock, but it had the chips in them.

Current specs on my '87, car weighs in at 2900lbs and makes 400hp at the wheels =).

Porsche made the 944 Turbo (951) from 1986 to 1989. First two years they put out 217 hp and I believe about 236 ft lbs. The magazines tested them out at approximately 0-60 in 6 seconds flat and they ran the 1/4 in about 14.2- 14.4. In 1988 the Turbo "S" put out 247 hp torque was up to about 300 ft. lbs. 1989 the "S" designation was dropped and they all had the same specs. The 1988 "S" and 1989 ran 0-60 times of 5.5 and 1/4 miles ran from 13.7 to 14.0 Aftermarket upgrades are abundant and many 944 Turbos out there today are putting out around 270 - 350 horsepower. I had 3 of them over the years. They are sluggish around town but give them some open tarmac and at about 3800 rpm's they'll deliver a outstanding wallop of power that our S2000's V-tec boost at 6k can't compare to. Overall however an S2000 is slightly quicker.
