ap1 vs 2005 g35 coupe
So i raced a black g35 coupe and had surprising results. my 02 just has a CAI, tp, and single 70mm greddy ti-c.
We did 3 runs in 2nd gear from a 50 roll. I instantly pulled a car every time, and by 4th gear i was at least 4-5 car lengths ahead. He did have 1 passenger and i had none, but with the amount of torque they have over our cars, I would never think that I would pull as hard as i did. I forgot to ask about his mods but he just said it was a 6-speed, and it sounded stock. kinda hard to hear over my car anyway. Does this sound about right? I would think that these coupes would give a better fight, or maybe the g35 owner needs driving skills. |
What year was the G35?
Edit: saw it in the title, I'm not 100% sure but I think that that is before the HR engines so I think that you might be a better driver but that your car is also a little faster. If I'm wrong someone please correct me. |
2005. its in the topic name. 2005 models have the "REVUP" over older models. I think it just means higher redline with hp increased to 298 vs 280 in the 04 and older models.
you are right about the HR motors, 2007+ models had them. but still, i shouldnt beat him that badly. he may have given up early in all the runs but he may need some lessons in shifting or something. |
My gf's brother had an 04 G35 Coupe, and he always pulled on me in my 06 S2000 from a roll. Granted both were bone stock, but he always kept slowly pulling away on me from every speed from 50 to 80mph, didn't matter. I tried everything, and lost every time. It's possible the guy kept the car in 6th gear and/or never downshifted properly, or your car is a lot faster then my bone stock 06. His G35 (280hp), was quite powerful from a roll. I think you are just a better driver. Tough to know, because it's really driver vs driver, not car vs car, unless it's controlled like when I raced one.

thats why i would like to have a rematch, hopefully i'll see him at a meet or something and i'll clear this up. g35 0-60 and quarter mile times are pretty similar to our cars so theres gotta be something wrong with his car or he cant drive.

that is the funniest thing i've ever heard in my life... G35's have no chance against a s2000 from a roll, unless the s2000 starts the race WELL UNDER vtec. a stock g35 can't even trap 100 in the 1/4 mile . i know these cars very well. the s2000 will walk every time. |

You may know the car, but you dont know the drivers. but if both had same skill its the S that will walk the G everytime(stock for stock), On the street you never know and anything can happen. I've won and lost against cars I shouldn't have in both cases. You just never know. |
I drive a 03 with just Tp, greddy Tic, and aem ems. I always race my friends 06 G35 with jwt intake, mrev2 plenum, spacer, art testpipe and motordyne exhuast plus Osiris tune. From 60-120 we are neck to neck every time we race, before his tune and exhuast I would pull 2 cars on him from 60-120. The revup engines aren't that impressive besides the HR, so don't let their torquey movement fool ya.

I've owned both, and a V35 G35 will lose stock for stock at any speed, except 0-25.
