I own an auto LT1 and a my06 S2k, stock for stock, the 5.7L V8 has the advantage.

This is argueable. If the S2k driver doesn't know how to properly launch the car, which most don't, the LT1 has the advantage, but given equal drivers I'd say it's up in the air.
...now...back to my LT1 with shit gears and an auto tranny. I ran a 350Z from a 40 punch and he got about 3 cars jump on me because number 1 he was ahead of me when he hit it and number 2 it took me a second to get the auto to downshift (right into its dead zone I might add...). By 100 I was 10' off his bumper in the other lane. He had a passenger. So we can conclude that my old TA was a decend run for a Z, about = I would call it considering my friend ran 14.0's in his 5.0 and I could SLOWLY EVER SO SLOWLY crawl on him from a roll.
Now. I ran an LS1 TA in that LT1 of mine...0-50 we were even. 50-70 he put 2 cars on me and was running away. He had a cat-back and a hypertech handheld (pretty much worthless).
My point is, S's are a decent run for an LT1 and an LT1 will get TOTALLY OWNED by an LS1.
LS1 F-body= C5
LS1 F-body > M3
IF! a "stock" AP1 or AP2 beats an LS1 car the LS1 is HORRIDLY out of tune or the driver SUCKED! An AP2 beating an LS1 is like a Civic SI beating an AP2.

I am more impressed with this car everyday
Tonight I went a few rounds with an LS1 trans am from a roll, two starting at 65mph and 1 at 45mph, each solidly up into triple digit speeds. Each time I put an easy 1-1.5 cars on him. Afterwards we caught a light and spoke, he was an auto (I was sad) and was stock (car had 30day tags). He was very surprised to learn my car was "pretty much stock"

We can go from a dig (I don't know anywhere around here), or we can run on Hwy 40. I look forward to seeing your S2000 in action!

You are from Raleigh? I live over in RTP. If you would like to run my LS1 Camaro, I would be happy to oblige. I live over at Brier Creek. I am in the process of putting a 12-bolt rear end in it, but afterwards I would be glad to meet you somewhere so you can show me a thing or two with your S2000.

I like HWY 40 it is nice and open. I use to make a trip there from my school (Pfeiffer). Yeah I feel that the 12 bolt rear end will put a whoopin on your arssss

hey deathsled, nice kill! I have heard this argument way too long. Although improbable, it's not impossible for well driven S to beat an LS1. Highway runs should favor the S down low and mid range, but 100+ will be all LS1 territory. Digs should go to Ls1's.
On another note, next time you attend a Greensboro meet Mr. Sled, lets have a friendly run on 40 and then a dig if we can find a space.

You race that thing with drag radials? If not, I don't see how you get much traction in first and second.

I have not driven it since the rear end is getting installed as we speak. IT is been in the shop for awhile having switch out diffs sending them out to Cali and then back to Ohio. There are a bunch of other people on the forum that have the 4.77 maybe they will chime in.
