The upcoming '07 RS4 will cost in the $70k range. Like others have said it is not a turbo but a direct injection version of the 4.2L V8 in the current S4. There is no way it will only be $54k...that's what a modestly loaded S4 costs.

If I read you correctly, it sounds like the RS4 was already accelerating past you when you decided to downshift and 'catch up'. This has been addressed many times, but the bottom line is, it is VERY hard 'reel in' a car that is starts off with a significant mph advantage, and continues to accelerate... be it an RS4, another S2000 or even an econobox.

this thread just caught my eye on Google as I was just checking up on the new RS4, I saw one yesterday, in terms of 'sudden break way speed' the 2000 is always going to struggle, it takes practice to really know what gear you drop down to, along with blipping the throttle to rev match, great when you get it right, horrible when you don't.

S2k just doesn't have the torque to pull like that especially if something like the RS4 is just blazing past you.. The s2k wouldn't win in any consideration against an RS4 unless you have some forced induction going on.
