My 03 GTI vs unknown S2k in San Diego
 

Well, I was cruising Mira Mesa Blvd heading to the gym when out of the corner of my eye I see a silver s2000 with black rims and an aftermarket exhaust. He takes the freeway onramp at a good speed. When I saw this, I thought maybe he would be game for a quick race. So I get right behind him on the on ramp, and as soon as we hit the highway I floor it in 3rd gear. Low and behold he does the same, and off we go. I had the jump so I had maybe a 2-3 car lead, onto 4th gear and I can hear the Vtak screaming at me but hes not gaining haha. Onto fifth gear, and by now I missed my exit, but no way in hell am I gonna let the s2k pass me so I stay on it all through fifth. Then comes sixth gear, we are at maybe 120-125ish when he starts giving me trouble. Right on my ass (drafting too I bet), he then changes lanes to overtake me but we had to shut down due to traffic.

Then, a couple of botched runs later, we line up again (still on the freeway), this time I'm in the middle of 5th and I'm sure he's in vtec, we both hammer it with me leaving a bit sooner. I hold the lead for a solid 3-4 seconds before he passes me like I'm standing still. (Stupid stock intercooler was heatsoaked from my first race, hence him catching up to me and almost passing me in 6th gear the first time around) This second time was far worst, I need water/meth...:banghead:

Super fun run, S2ks are very very quick. In fact this race was very enlightening as it showed my cars weaknesses. I'm about 99 percent sure that if my crap stock intercooler hadn't heat soaked on the first run and remained hot on the subsiquent runs, he would'nt of been able to catch me but oh well, thats what I get for being caught with my pants down. :thumbup: to the s2k driver, and the car. Sounded very mean, and took the onramp like it was on rails. Front mount or water/meth here I come!! :cool:

Nice runs! Next time try to run it at the same time (referring to your first run) and then the result will be more clear :). Oh and remember to becareful if you ever go that fast! Or rather not!

is your GTI chipped? What other mods

i hope you've got a paragraph's worth of mods. i've raced local dibbers with FMIC/GIAC@21psi/E(205whp/245wtq) and been able to put 2-3 or cars back.

You should have lots of mods done to the car, because otherwise...

:iagree: I put buslengths on my buds 1.8t Intake, DP and chipped...

I have 2 power mods total. Giac software and a turboback exhaust. The six speed also helps keep me in the powerband at high speeds. Once I get water/meth and tune it, this car should be substantially faster. I'm hoping the s2k guy chimes in as his car was modded, maybe he belongs on this forum! :thumbup:

Haha, call it what you will, but its the truth. My primary reason for posting this is to see if the s2k guy I raced will pop up and say something. I would never really post here otherwise, I have no need (or want) to prove that I'm faster than an s2k. :)
