MY01 vs SVT Mustang
 

Last night after a rough day of work I am wanting to do a little bit of spirited driving, I notice a Mustang in front of me getting on the highway so I speed up and close in the distance on him to get his attention. It wasnt a supercharged SVT but I could tell it had pipes at the very least of mods done to it. On the entrance ramp and getting on the highway I got him, maybe I caught him off guard or something. Well I slow back down and let him get up beside me, he looks over and I drop it in 3rd at 70mph and were off, he started pulling and kept pulling, so we both shut down. I pull up beside him and want to give it another go, same results this time too, him pulling about a car on me untill 100mph and we shut down. I was a little shocked because I would have thought that I would pull on him from the roll from midrange up, I guess maybe while getting on the highway I caught him off guard or he wasnt expecting the s2000 to be like it is. But... 1 loss on my list to add.

The Cobras are stronger than the S, all things being equal.

Yea, I wonder what HP/ tq #s the pre supercharged SVT Cobra's lay out. In the 2000-2004 body style.

its 320@flywheel hp, and about 300tq.@flywheel. theyre pretty quick so if you dont have atleast some bolt-ons, youre not going to win, most of the time.

Well i'm not a Ford "hoer" as F1s2000 calls them...but i do have and drive an 01 Mustang GT Convertible.

Honestly, i'd take an S2K over the mustang, which is why you'll notice in my sig, that i'm getting one soon.

however, you have 60hp less, and your convertible is heavier than a coupe. 99-02 Cobras are respectable cars. also, get the 02 is youre deciding btw an 01 or 02 S2000, plastic rear window SUCKS, take it from an owner of one. i didnt think it would be bad, but its all scuffed now, and it doesnt look good when its flapping on the highway, with the windows open.

The 99 and 01 Mustang Cobras are not Supercharged and they are putting down 320 horse. The 03-04 Cobras are Supercharged and they are rated as putting down 390 horse at the crank but actually after many dynos on stock 03-04 cobras its about 380 horse to the wheels. I had a 99 cobra with work done and 4:10 gears and I got spanked by a stock 03 cobra that was supercharged.

I race my friends 99 SVT Cobra (Not Supercharged) and it beat me by 3 cars...I was dead even with him off the launch (I dropped it at 4500 instead of my usual 6500) and I hit 9K perfect at 39MPH and we were dead even I hit second gear and he was still by my side then he shifted out of 1st gear at 44 and into second and just pulled I started catch up in the end of 3rd and beggining of 4th and I got the cars down to about 3 from the 5 just before we hit the quater mile mark
