My friend has been bugging me non-stop about runnin' him to see how he does against me.
It's an 89 Civic Hatchback completely gutted with two front seats. He has a 1st gen B16A with Type R Valvesprings, Type R Retainers, Type R Cams, Type R Pistons, and Type R Rods. His suspension consists of tokico shocks w/ ground conrtol coil overs. Si alloy wheels with Falken Azena's...
Our run was from 50-120. my top was down also
I pulled up next to him and he said 4 honks. So on the 4th honk i waited about 1/4 of a sec afte the 4th honk to go, so he wouldn't say I jumped.
I instantly pulled about a car in about 7 seconds... When I hit 120, I was about 9 car lengths ahead ???
You should have seen his face afterwards
He said nothing went wrong and he didn't miss any shifts. It was a clean race.
I would have expected more from that motor with all the type R products. I am for sure he has them in there, because I was at the guys house who did the installation for him.
oh well... it was a good race, but i was definitely expecting it to be a closer race.

yeah, it should have been closer. I had a 92 hatch (I think a tiny bit heavier) with a jdm B16a2 (170 hp instead of 160) gutted with the normal bolt ons, same suspension and it ran a 14.6 on the stock 13" crap tires. Not that that's awesome, but it couldn't launch for crap. Your bud's civic should be able to hang with you better than that. But who knows?
