Nearly Beat By a Civc
 

I was cruising along 264 (local hwy) when this moded civic pulls up next to me. It was a late in the day, no one around so I decided to run him. He had me till 4th/5th but I got him at 6th.....but he was FAST. I don't what he had done to his engine (his car made a weird chirp/sqeekinging when he down shifted. I was very surprised that he gave me such a close run. anyone got any idea what he running? Is that chirp have to do with an engine mod ie. SC or Turbo?

Turbo wastegate making all those chirping noises.

It is probably turbo if you were hearing a "psssssssst" sound every so often.

Thanks guys...I knew the guy had to have something. He was waaaay to quick of the line.

Wastegates don't chirp, but BOV's do... BTW, I like your sig... I've got a 99 Greyhound that's Grey-Brindle... Mine does 0-45 in 1.8 seconds though... :p

can't say I've heard a bov chirp ... unless the chirp is a fwoosh =)
but I kinda doubt a turbo with a stock engine would keep a civic at pace upto 5th.
do you know what model/engine it was supposed to be?

I have no idea, that's why I posted. Like I said, we were going about 70, both downshifted and then took off. He had me beat till I got to the later gears. I just remeber that sqeek/chirp sound his engine made. His engine had to moded. I've had guys in riced out civic try to run me before and I SMOKE them....this guy really gave me a run.

I was at the dragstrip and i lost to a civic, he got 14 flat , i got like 14.1....he was fast though, i bet he could get into the 13's...its all good to me though, if he took the money to go fast, then thumbs up to him..(but its still a civic..lol)

do you know what he had under the hood?

prolly the basic bolt ons, plus a turbo
