IF another car jumps the other in a race, it's because he was making more horsepower at that particular rpm they started at, not more torque.
sure he may have been making more torque too, but that isn't the reason he just yanked you.

Horsepower is just a another measure of torque at that rpm. Horsepower numbers and torque numbers are the same at 5252 rpms.
There are a number of variables in play when two cars race. Horsepower is only one relevant factor. Vehicle weight, gearing, redline, powerband, driver, all thesethings influece the outcome. It is silly to argue that horsepower is somehow the most important number.

Power most certainly is the biggest deciding factor.
