No match for the EVO IX MR!
My brother-in-law bought a new 2006 EVO MR. After talking a lot of smack, I waited for him to break it in so we could give it a go. Once he passed 1k miles we ran a few races. I have a 2002AP1 with 10k miles, intake and cat back. His car is entirely stock. Since I dont like launching from a dead stop and he was against it as well, we went from a roll. Here are the results:
Race 1:
Roll from about 20-25mph, both in first gear. Even though I was pretty much in Vtech when we started out, the EVO pulled really hard on me and I shut down at the top of third gear. The stupid wing on his car was at least 4 cars ahead.
Race 2:
Roll from about 40-45mph, I was in second, not sure what gear he was in. Results about the same, but he probably gained another car on me. So, about 4 cars on me and this time I got into 4th, but shut it down soon after. He was still pulling away hard.
Race 3
Too make a long story short. Go smoked again from about 65-120. Also about 4-5 cars again and still fading back.
I have a race R32s and beat them pretty bad. I have also raced AP2s and given up 1 car, but also raced ap2s and taken 1 car.
So, I saw the post in here about the EVOs and thought I would share. I am not sure about the older models, but the 2006 MR is FAST! stay away unless you have FI. I shifted smooth and fast, missed no gears.
Cheers!

doesnt a 4.56 geared S2K beat a stock S2k by 4-5 car lengths?.....and if the stock MR beat the S2K by 4-5 car lengths, then by faulty correlation reasoning.....a geared S2K should be neck and neck with a STOCK Evo 9 MR.......until the first mod!
I consider cai/exhaust stock on S2k since most add a few ponies if not lose....

Sounds like we're pretty a lose against the new EVO 9 MR's... and I'm sure they would rape us on the track as well cause they can handle just as good as our babies can... Great!!!! Just Great!!!! (Sarcastic... lol.)

I would say for a AP1 they would need 4.77 and all the bolts on + weight reduction to beat a stock evo 9.
For an AP2 they would need 4.57 with all the bolts on + weight reduction to beat a stock evo 9.
If the evo 9 have all the bolts on then the S2k need F.I to keep up.
