05 model and up (Not the newer model with the bigger engines) Only the 05 body style (not sure how long that body style ran for). Anyways that is a drivers race. s2k vs my friends 05 mustang gt, s2k always came out on top if you knew how to shift. a little harder from a dig but still possible. Now if the mustang has engine mods and a tune the s2k will lose for sure.
my best friend has the mustang and we have raced a lot of cars in it before and after the mods and tune. before the tune he could easily beat the older model mustangs. Now if the 05 gt can beat the older mustangs and the s2k can beat a stock 05 mustang than the 99-04 is definitely not a drivers race...

Ban me because I don't like rustangs? Ha ha ha ha. Maybe you should join gigdy? Two's company, and three's a crowd if you both sit in a rustang together and make out while holding hands.

: meaning?
Prior to 2005, the 99-04 Mustang GT's were a driver's race with S2000's. After 2005, a lot of S2000 owners decided their cars were now a "driver's race" with the new Mustangs. Not logical. It's called "wishful thinking."
I'm not saying you couldn't beat an 05 Mustang GT, just that the 05+ Mustang GT's have a solid advantage over the S2000, especially from a roll. A mediocre to poor Mustang driver can still lose a race to a slower car being driven better.

Interesting topic as I just had an encounter with an 05+ GT coupe earlier this evening. It was from a 4 way stop, we both just rolled off the line normally and then punched it in first gear at about the same time.
The mustang pulled maybe 1/4 car through first gear, but I quickly reeled him in and was even by the end of second gear. My shifts were bang on and as I shifted to third gear we were DEAD even. This is one of the closest races I have ever had in my life!
Redlined third and shifted to fourth and we both shut down around 90mph still even. VERY good race indeed. I would agree that an 05+ GT coupe vs s2k is a drivers race at certain roll speeds as long as the s2k is in its powerband, but can't help but think as we approached higher speeds the mustang would have started to pull.
edit: I should mention my mods, AEM cold air intake, fujitsubo catback exhaust. The mustang sounded/appeared to be stock.
