S2000 vs 16G WRX 2L
I'm not much of a street racer, but we have a guy here that bragged how his self-tuned 16G WRX 2L on 93 octane would keep up with an E85 STi. The guy he called out was on E85, but due to a road trip, he had switched back to 91 octane. When they met up, the STi walked past him with ease, using just 4th gear starting at 2,500 RPM (WRX was in optimal gear) multiple times. One race, the STi started in 3rd and took off on him.
Fast forward to last night, one of the weekly car meets turned out to be rather large due to the 4th of July activities and I ended up lining up with the same 16G WRX. I ran him twice with the top down from about 35-40mph up to about 90ish mph. I pulled instantly and kept pulling (he was probably at my rear fender/bumper). When the speeds got higher, I wasn't leaving him quite as hard, but I imagine the drag from having the top down had some play in that. My car has a K&N FIPK, PLM header, Invidia TP, HKS 75mm single, Fluidampr, and a Greddy E-manage tuned for fairly flat 13:1 AFR (93 octane) and 3,800 RPM VTEC (feels/runs MUCH better than when I bought the car). With a good running 16G WRX 2L on gas, that car *should* be in the 280+ whp range with a very mild tune... It's apparent that this was not.
Shortly after I ran him, he got to see what an E85 STi swapped wagon (with supporting mods) would do against him (one of my customers). The STi Wagon just told him to go after the 16G WRX was brake boosting. The STi wagon let him get a jump, stepped on it without brake boosting and flew past him.
That was the slowest race I've been apart of in the last 10 years. It was still fun. It did give me the drive to replace my slave cylinder with the new AP1 slave I have in the tool box. Every gear change had slip. I also have an AP1 flywheels and CC stage 2 clutch ready to go as well.

Oh, I know... I tune Subaru's regularly and have a fairly healthy STi myself. If you saw the car and the owner, it'd make more sense, however, I did make the point of the tune in the first post and what it is capable of.

Nice! I love the 16G turbos. Or the evo 16g at least. With a good tune and downpipe they can make some nice power! Adding he evo3 16g to my LGT shortly!
Good kill!

VF39's and 16G's make for a quick spooling setup with GREAT mid-range torque on a 2.5L.
