Most likely driver's race, but if you're a good driver, you'd have the upperhand.

There is more than Maximas with some sort of valve timing technology out there. This type of question have no answer until you actually race and be careful cuz in reality those Maximas are no joke at all!

I've heard the new Altimas are faster than the Maximas. Are we going to get spanked by stock Altimas too?? I rented a Maxima a few weeks ago and it didn't feel as fast as my S2k. I always thought that the 350Z was the fastet car nissan had in the US, and from what I've read in the forum our car is as fast or faster than the 350Z. I'll think it twice before runing one of those damn Maximas next time .

Cheers,

Motor Trend 2004 Maxima SE 6-spd test:
0-60 @6.3 seconds
1/4mi = 14.8 seconds at 97 mph

Have they upped HP since this test a year ago?

With a competent driver in the S, the S will have the upperhand. Much like a new TL, it'd be a driver's race from a roll, but with a competent driver in the S, it will have the upperhand.

There are plenty of 4 doors that give an S a run for its money, or beat it: TL; Accord V6; Maxima; Altima; GS430; etc. And if you move up in money, you'll get plenty of fast German sedans. So it's nothing new. 4 doors have been speedy for quite a while now. It's no big deal. The S is not about winning drag races with them 4 doors, it's ALL ABOUT AUTOX, BABY!

The 350Z edges out the Maxima quite a bit. The S should have no problem winning. (Good driver of course).
