s2k vs Z4 3.0 who wins?

This has come up a few times.
My take, a manual 3 liter Z4 runs about even with a stock S2000.
Flame away of course.
By the way, love your garage. The 540 6 speed is a real hoot to drive around town. I've laid a good 20 feet of rubber shifting from first to second in one.

I'd even go as far as saying Z4 more forgiving in performance as well. Nice torque, but the linear power delivery (to me) feels less exciting... but still quick.

The few performance tests I've seen have the S2K marginally quicker than the Z4, perhaps a few tenths down the 1/4 mile and the 1000m mark. Its basically a drivers race, and I have no problem accepting the fact that the Z4 is most likely on-par with the S2K in a straightline stoush.
I also agree with cK, the Z4's broader powerband probably makes it less forgiving also.

I have a Z4 3.0 and recently raced an s2000.
At the green light we both started as fast as we could and the s2000 left behind easilly. The same thing hapend twice.
From a rolling start we were about equal. My z4 is completly stock and has 5000 miles on it.

I should certainly hope you both started as fast as you could lol
In any case, clearly sounds like the s2k driver basically couldn't drive all that well. Its not the fact that you beat him from a stop, but you certainly shouldn't be leaving him behind "easily".
More details would be nice too, what speeds did you race up to? The Z4 has the advantage down low, as do a lot of cars on the S2K, but the S2K has a stronger top-end, again just going by magazine tests I've seen
Oh...and good kill

Am glad that I see someone from GREECE around here. Ti ginesai KOSTAS ola kala?
Any way! I have race on the streets together with a Z4 3.0L, RX8, SLK AMG and I must say that the first drag/sprint was together with the Z4 and RX8. The SLK was just following behind us like plug and play. The RX8, there is no need to say but it was left behind us. On the first gear up to 6000 RPM I was nose to nose with the Z4 and while he was shifting the party was starting for my S2000. On the second gear it was a car behind me. We run until my speed reached 208km/h and then we stopped. This time the SLK AMG joined the party together once again with the Z4 3.0L. The RX8 now is behind us. We started over going nose to nose with the SLK, until I started gaining ground about a meter or two on the third gear with the SLK AMG. As for the Z4 still missing something and was left behind. We reached 193km/h this time and I was half car in front. As for the Z4... well you know... I really like the design though.
