After about 50 or so passes launching at 8900-9100rpm, and numerous test runs and beatings elsewhere, my clutch started slipping. Despite that issue, I manged a 13.05 @105.78 1.92 60'(sea level), 12.91@106.60 1.90 60' and 12.96 @ 105.60mph 1.91 60' in -460' DA
My best pass, achieved a week or so ago, was 12.88@108 with a 1.87 60' in -1300 DA.
If my clutch held up, there's no doubt that 12.91 could have been a 12.85; and a 12.75 in the same conditons as my 12.88 pass from a week(s) ago.
Changes- lighter wheels/tires and a few gal less fuel. Weight was 2705 lb with me in it
What's next? A new clutch and I'm going to try out an Ap2 s2k transmission. Curious to see how the 4% better gearing works for me.
Will you swap out a lighter flywheel with the clutch job?
I thought about it, but I'm going to stick with an oem AP1 flywheel. At 14 lb, that is pretty light for me. Since I drag race the car more than anything, I rely on the stored/kinetic energy of the flywheel (at 9000-9100rpm) to help propel the car (2,705 lb w/me) off the line. I have a fidanza aluminum flywheel in my 97 Saturn S series drag car, but that car also weighs 1850 w/me in it lol.
A little update- I ordered the Clutch Masters stage 3 (model fx300) and their flywheel.
Their clutch disk and pressure plate weigh 3 lb more than my ACT did, but their flywheel weighs 2lb less than my own ap1 fw, so the weight is close (technically 1 lb more now but that's ok!)
I picked up an Ap2 trans last Saturday. Hopefully I can get it all installed before the weekend.
How many gear changes for a "12 second" quarter mile? Just curious as I think I need 2 changes for a 0-60 run with my AP2 gearbox and engine's red line. You're running the OEM differential?

1-2, 2-3, 3-4. Thats 3 shifts for me in my 12 sec, bolt on ap1. Stock 4.10 rear diff. From what I've read, the ap2 trans has a 4% lower secondary reduction. That's 4% better 1st thru 4th, or roughly the equivalent of having 4.30 gears, 1st thru 4th. On a car which lacks torque, the torque multiplication of the gearing certainly wont hurt it off the line.
Recently installed my Clutchmasters stage 3 with a stock ap1 flywheel. Waiting for the rain to pass, and then I'll install the ap2 trans 8)
