Default SOS Stage 2 vs Turbo FRS

06 SOS 1200 w/ 3.8 pulley (currently only around 9.2 psi - max 11.5)
previously had the SOS 1220 dyno 342 whp @ 8.2 psi

I was in a hot desert climate visiting family few weeks ago. I was cruising along when passing a Red FRS with wheels and exhaust. Once passing him I noticed a large front mount intercooler. I got pretty excited to see what that thing could do, mostly because any other FRS/BRZ is just not a fair run against me. After a few miles he pulled up along side gave me a nod and downshifted. I obliged and met him at about 45 mph. three honks and we were off. I pulled a car length right away. Cut it around 100mph when I had 2-3 lengths on him. He said his clutch was slipping, he had a hard time getting into gear. yup! sure...so we went again from 60 this time (not a good power band for me). He jumped the third honk early, but we stayed neck and neck until I shifted into 4th and pulled ahead. Cut it around 110 up 1-2 lengths this time. I could tell the heat was clearly effecting the power. The car wasn't accelerating nearly as quick as it does in the cooler temps, but I still got the best of him.

We pulled over and chatted a little. It was a cool setup. He said he was doing around 320 whp with about 280 torque. He said he was running E45? He didn't have E85 where he lived. That sounded odd. But he also told me he expected his car to run mid 11 1/4 mile at the track. I agreed

I haven't really considered the water meth kit just because living in California, I rarely have to worry about the heat. It's only when going back to Arizona to visit family that I have to suffer through it. I'd rather save the money and look towards 3.0 or 3.2 pulley upgrade or a diff...or E85... I can go on forever.

Plus he or anyone else will have the same heat issues on any given day. It is a level playing field.
