Just curious if anyone has run against one.... road and/or track. My friend has a 2001 S4, and of course thinks it's going to chew up my (arriving shortly) 02 s2k soft top and spit it out. Anyone have any first-hand insight??

 

I'd say stock vs stock the s2000 is faster. I was looking at S4's before I bought the s2000, the S4 seemed kind of slow in factory form. Once he chips and makes exhaust mods he'll stomp you.

 

I'm wondering if it just felt that way since the power application is so much more linear in that car vs. the s2k..... I have the same feeling in my current Maxima, the torque band is so wide that it just pulls so strong nearly everywhere in the RPM range. And yes, they're both completely stock.... at least for now.

 

From a stop, he may have an advantage, but from a roll, it's driver's race. It won't "chew you up and spit you out." But you sound like you suck at driving and very unconfident, so maybe it will. It all has to do with drivers. Sucky drivers will lose to everything, fast or slow.

As for on the track, with a decent driver, the S2000 will beat up the S4 senselessly. Again, with sucky or unconfident drivers, it will lose to a scooter.


We're talking about the 250-hp biturbo, right? Oh, 2001 only came with that. And assuming that both cars are stock of course.

 

Oops! Mis-read your post. I thought that you thought it would chew you up and spit you out. But it's your friend who thinks so. Do it from a roll of 40mph, and put yours in 2nd. You'll most likely win. Putting in right gears is extremely important in the S2K because of low torque.

After you've beaten him, tell him that he tastes good in your mouth, not the other way around.

Bone stock S4 has 250 hp, S2000 240hp and is much lighter. The S4 will pull consistent (14.1 - 14.6 in the quarter bone stock). S2000 will pull 13.8 - 14.2 with a driver. S2000 is faster (stock).

 

i ran into an S4 at carl's junior and an A4 at the same time.. well.. anyways.. they were in some audi car crew.. and i went up to them.. and asked.. who's s4 is parked outside.. and this one guy said.. me.. i asked him.. u wanna run?? he said.. what do u drive? i said.. an s2000.. he immediately told me.. nah.. u would win.. and tear me apart.. so from what an s4 owner told me.. he said that the s2k would win all the time.. and he had a chip in his car.. thats it.. on some 18' rims.. i'm all stock..

and this is comin from an S4 owner himself!! =P
