Default Your Experiences vs WRX (non STI)

Just Curious - considering equal drivers - how does the S2000 stack up against the WRX (non-Sti)

Not trying to Troll or start a pissing contest - just want honest opinions.

Reason I ask is I recently *almost* had a chance to run agaisnt one. This guy was reving hard, but I had to make a right turn - I was wondering what the outcome would have been.

Thanks in advance to anybody that posts.

Cheers

If stock, shouldn't be a problem, particularly from a roll.

If from a stop, he'd take you easy, then you'd pass him up before a 1/4 mi. away.

If modified, even slightly, it can beat you, or nearly beat you. My buddy's had intake, full exhaust, and a few other minor mods, and from a roll was pretty even with me.

I had a WRX before I bought my s2k. I had the opportunity to race my WRX against a s2k from a stop and a roll.

From a stop:
I launched my rex at about 5.5-6k rpm, the thing just sling-shotted off the line and had him by a good 2 cars. It stayed that way all the way thru 2nd. I hit 3rd and the s2k started to creep up by middle of third he was at my rear bumper. I had to shut down early due to a car that was in front of me.

From a roll:
Same two cars. we both hit it pretty much at the same time--I was in second, not sure what gear he was in. It was even for about a second and then the s2k just started to pull on me. He had a about 1.5-2 cars on me then I just shut it down.

Hope that helps a little.

I had a chance to race my wife getting on the expressway. My WRX is Stage II (exhaust + ECU) which is good for 50HP over stock for about $1,000. Stage IIs are very common. My S2000 (driven by the wife) only has a 4IGS intake. We started from a slow roll up to 100 and it stayed dead even to 90ish when the S started to inch away. Had I launched it would have been different.

Like everyone said: stock for stock the S will pull from a roll and the WRX will win from a stop but get reeled in if the race goes past 80ish MPH. Modified is a different story.

Having owned a WRX before my S2K I used to race Drunken_Monk and so the race would pan out like this: from a stop the WRX would have 1-2 car lengths on you until you hit 3rd gear and which point you would pull like a MO-FO and pass up the WRX. From a roll with open space ahead the WRX would keep up relatively but you would keep pulling farther away. I don't know if I contradicted myself but I think you get what I mean. The Suby can hit 140mph, I did it but the car is very unstable and I only did it once. My conclusion the WRX has great low end 1-2 gear torque and power but holds nothing to the S from 3rd gear on. The WRX is way better in bad weather and going up hills I might add.

i am a big fan of the wrx... sooo easy to mod... i've only raced 1 and it was from about 45-50 on up. i pulled on him pretty quick and put an easy bus length in between us ... i don't remeber what speed i shut down.. he was modded with exhaust from all i could tell.... and of course a BOV i still would love to own one for the winter!
