Drive it off a cliff. You'll be accelerating at -9.8m/s/s.
Yes!

By the way, the cliff must be at least 35.7m deep. You'll get 0-60mph in 2.7secs!

Yes, but it is all from autoX's or road courses. I haven't had it on the 1/4 track yet and really have no desire to do so.

gomarlins3 is right, I have 4.56's and am Sc'd . First gear is almost useless- 9200 (my red line) comes up instantly!

don't...there's a 75% chance you'll tear up the ring gear

Because the s2000 has power up top. Low tq which is hard for launching. Weak rear differentals. The s2000 is very hard to launch correctly. Your going to start breaking stuff if you launch hard to many times. Basically if your only basing a cars performance off its 0-60 times. That is where the s2000 doesnt shine. Like we stated before, 0-60 has really nothing to do with performance. An evo will go 0-60 slower then a Vette but will be a car in front. Get my point. Also, how many races start from a dig anymore? The reason why vettes, vipers, etc have such low 0-60 mph times. Is because there power is almost instant. To get instant power out of an S you will pretty much need a new motor. It is possible to do it in 4.6, but your car will run out of top end because its going to take so much effort to get the low end pull that you want. So it will be worthless from rolls.
Well, I don't want to be disagreeable (), but an incompetent operator can tear up any car trying to race it or launch it hard, while someone who has a little better understanding of how things work can do literally thousands of launches in an S2000 without hurting the car in any way what so ever. Let me give you a list of the people who I *KNOW* have done hundreds of hard launches in their S2000, without damaging anything. Xviper, Billman, RED MX5 (me ). I'm sure there are others as well, but consider that XViper and I both have supercharged cars, and in my case, Kia final drive gears, that are weaker than the OEM 4.10:1 gears.

I'll state the following as a HARD FACT: You can boost an S2000 and do thousands of hard lanuches and 0-60 runs without hurting the car (but you will wear the back tires out quickly). I *KNOW* this is a fact, and as proof of it, I have to replace my back tires at every oil change, and I change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles. AND, my car is as reliable as a stone.

I do agree that the S2000 isn't a great choice for a drag car (and it's a worse choice for anyone interested in street racing); I'm a hard core autocrosser myself, and love nothing more than taking a fine handling car through a twisty mountain pass, but I see no reason to limit myself to those activities. I can rip to 60 in under five seconds, enjoy doing so, don't hurt the car in the process, and find it as suitable as anything else for that purpose (ie, having fun spinning the tires and ripping through the gears). So, without wanting to seem harsh or disagreeable, and with a little laugh to make that clear (), I'll ask ya, "Who are you to be telling me how to enjoy my toys?"
(Please don't be offended.)

LOL, look at the animated gif in my signature. I do donuts too, and other things you'd probaby think tear up the car, but you're obviously mistaken, cause my 9 year old car is still virtually like new in every way (except for the miles on the odometer).

BTW, you are mistaken about the effect the lack of low end torque has on the cars acceleration from a standing start, at least if you launch the way I do. I'm in VTEC before I drop the clutch (essential if you don't want to break something), and the car never drops out of VTEC, so I'm making GREAT power right out of the hole. Lots of tire smoke too.

0-60 times are most certainly not the end all and be all of performance, but it is ONE valid measure of one aspect of performance. We could say the same thing about cornering grip, and compared to many other cars, the S2000 isn't very good at this either. Should we stop taking corners at speed for that reason? Seems that your logic must lead us to that conclusion. I do see your point; Do you see mine (which I dare say is probably based on experiences you haven't had)?

We could go into the ways people bust their diff, fry their clutch, or twist their axles, but all such things come from driver mistakes, not from any weakness in the S2000 itself. Find a single exception to that rule, and I'll agree that I'm wrong and you're right.

I've only got 4.30 gears, but even so, dropping the clutch at 6k and nailing the throttle brings up the rev limiter almost instantly, so I have to modulate the throttle to avoid riding the limiter all the way through first gear. With 4.56's I think you need a lot more grip, and more grip is one of the things that WILL tear up the driveline.

Even in normal (hard) driving (no clutch drop, just hard acceleration), with my mild boost and gearing, the time between 6k and 9k in first is VERY short.

Right-click and save-as to view video. The irritating buzzing/beeping you hear is the Modifry Redline Shift Beeper going nuts as I ride the rev limiter. Hard on the tires, but sure as heck doesn't break things, the way the guys who never do such things claim, believe, and tell others.

well, it took me about 1 month to know what it is and about 2 more years to learn, haven't got it yet..
hehehe.

ive done 0-60 in 4.5s.

I have my little cousin push my car behind (on her trike). A good tail wind really helps the 60ft times too.
