I don't understand what you mean by warranty "upgrade". How does it differ from the three-year/36,000 mile warranty included with the car?

In the Bay Area, they still have a $5000 "premium" over sticker, for the 2002, of course. I tried to offer them $1500 over sticker, and they looked at me like if I was crazy.

A dealership in Santa Rosa, wants $42000 + tax on their 02' Silver/Black. I offered the internet sales $38,000 out the door, and he said, "hm...... Thats only $2000 over MSRP, why would I wanna sell that to you when I know that I can make $8000 on this vehicle?"

I almost wanted to ask if he was smokin something.

These prices are getting rediculous... I can understand a markup in the first year, maybe early second.. but the third year??? There is a dealer here that has 4 01s left because they refuse to sell them at sticker... now the 02s are out and they STILL want over sticker for them. I talked to a salesdrone and he said he "may" be able to get me a 01 down to sticker. I told him I can get a 02 AT sticker or under sticker if I decided to drive a little, there was no way I'm paying any more than $31k for 01... bla bla bla.. wouldn't take it... This winter these cars are going to be a more difficult sell. Maybe I can get a good deal on a 02 then...

It supposedly covers wear and tear items not covered in the Honda 3/36K warranty, but if you read the fine print, it really doesn't, which is why I said if you want to put throw it in, fine, but I won't pay for it.

The "warranty upgrade" (extended warranty) is the extension of the warranty after 36K or 3 years whichever comes first.
In my case it was the miles that came first (43,000 in 16 months) and the extended warranty is to 100,000 miles and or 6 years.

You

Dave...after reading more posts by others in the area...damn. I didn't think ALL of the Southwest was gettin' bent over. I guess I have to retract my comment about my "Pile of crap" for sale.

I feel sorry for you guys down there. I mean...if you can all afford the markups then great. But still...that blows. In Chicago I'm pretty confident about getting an S2K without waiting long for less than MSRP...at least now you can. Before maybe not. Crazy that dealers are still hangin' on to the markups there...
