Default 150K mile service - expectations and cost?

My 04 S2000 is approaching the 150K mark. It's been incredibly reliable - no major issues.

I'm struggling to find guidance on what sort of maintenance to do at the 150K mark. I called the dealership where the car was bought new in late '03 and was quoted some $520 for a 150K service, which seemed high. They suggested replacing spark plugs which I have not had done.

I'd kind of had this dream of keeping the car to 300K miles (I do a lot of highway driving) and I would like to give the car a real solid health check and cleanup as it approaches what I optimistically hope is the halfway point in its life. To that end, any suggestions on,
- what kind of work should be done on a car at this point?
- what kind of cost(s) I should consider reasonable?

Appreciate the help! Bob

The 520$ quote depends on what services will be performed... were they able to provide details of that quote?

are you mechanically inclined at all? here are some things to consider if you're doing it yourself; just purchasing the parts:

replace spark plugs - ~50
oil change/filter - ~45
replace differential fluid - ~15
replace transmission fluid - ~20
replace brake/clutch fluid - ~10
drain and fill coolant - ~30
valve adjustment - free, just invest in tools
replace cabin filter - ~25
replace air filter - ~30
replace serpentine belt - ~60

all in all that's less than 300.

Looks like a pretty complete list. I would also examine ball joints and suspension bushings.

Thanks for the replies. In past years, I was more inclined to do the work myself but with a 14-hour-a-day job, my fiancee moving in soon and the wedding right around the corner, there's just no time, so I guess I'm finding myself more concerned with whether the price is a reasonable "dealer markup" price, or if it's unreasonable even by dealer markup standards!

Good point about the plugs, I really do need to replace those, probably much cheaper to do it myself...

As emdzey01 said, find out exactly what the dealer is going to do for the $520.

Plugs will take you 30 minutes if you're slow. I'd at least do those on my own even if the dealer ends up doing the rest.

Great list. Don't forget to lube the chassis, grease shifter and other stuff. Wash, wax and fill up with gas to start on the next 150k.

Where do you lube the chassis?
