OK, WE GO! We're going ahead with the 04 swap into an 01 car. We will use the existing ECU, and go for 9k. Through an arrangement with Hardtopguy, the job will be fully waranteed. Hardtopguy will keep the car for a few weeks, and the car will undergo complete dyno testing and evaluation, and if all works out we'll post some nice rwhp numbers. This project will begin on Dec 20th, so stay tuned!

Thanks for all the imput on this thread. We have gone through all these calculations and talks with Honda on this and we feel it is a worth while project. From all the dyno testing with 00-03 and 04 cars we have done werre excited to see these real world results. Also thanks to billman250 for his insights.

Pardon my stupid question, but is there an easy way to raise the stock rev limiter on a MY04 to at least 8600RPM?

Hot damn! Can't wait to see this work out, they'll be a few people who will want to blow their engines just for the hell of it now. I'm kidding of course.

UMmmmm correct me if im wrong, but im pretty sure that the vafc can only lower your vtec engagement point... not higher the redline. You would need an engine management system.... Like Emanage, I thought the Vafd was just a piggyback, in capabable of bumping it up?

Great news. Do you guys plan on changing any of the internals like upgrading the rods to add strength? Keep us posted. Can't wait to see the results.

For what it's worth I remember reading an article in a car mag (forget which, but C&D or MT most likely) when the 04 first came out that stated Honda lowered the revs because the piston speed was too high at 9k. They mentionned that the pistons were going faster than in an F1 car.

No changes....drop in and go...the whole project would not be effective to the cause if we had to rebuild the lower end....maybe a valve spring upgrade, maybe a piggyback revlimiter to 8400 or something....

Long ago, a member by the name of 1RandyC decided to put his very expensive S2000 headlights in his oven, bake them, just to remove the orange lenses. It has become a worldwide fad, enough for a company called Ricks to manufacture a clear lense for the cause. We all come together here to experiment, share views, and in many cases come up with ideal solutions and products for the car that bought us together in the first place. If the project goes as planned, you can bet there will be an 04 engine installation kit. Who knows, maybe we'll set some record for piston speed , and the rolling chassis that used to be a driveable S2000s will get engines.

I've been to Randy's place. Just wanted to add a "useful" post like some others.

Actually, I was on the phone early w/ Joe(SanMarinoCpe). He seems pretty jazzed about the whole scenario. I'll definitely be following along after they pick up the car next weekend. Good luck!
