I just got the call from my salesman that a 2001 Silver/Black S2000 is in.
I was originally in line to get the Silver back in September, but I gave that up to wait for 2001 Spa yellow. I have been waiting for a S2000 for nearly an eternity and I know that I would be very happy with either color. But now I am really confused. I tend to be on the conservative side and I don't know yellow would be really right for me. I admit, I am some what consicious of what other think of me and would usually prefer to stay low profile. But that yellow looks so nice and I can handle few more weeks of waiting. What should I do, or what would you do? |
I wanted silver at first but yellow was the first available. Now I'm glad but I'd take either if it came in today.
|
the silversone mettalic is unique, the spa yellow can be found on porsches, audis, riced up civics...
and it's vulgar IMO |
Take the silver. The yellow can be tiring after a couple of years.
|
I am about to trade in my silver for a yellow one, but yellow IS flashy.
I think the silver is a more acceptable color, but I can't get the yellow out of my head...I just gotta have it! |
I debated between these two colors as well...I opted for the silver. It's really nothing like most other silver's you see, and I like the dark color. Yellow fades terribly, which is one of the reasons I opted for silver. Anyways...the dealer already actually has the 2001 in the showroom? If so, that's the first 2001 that's arrived so far to this board's knowledge!

The silverstone is the only metalic offered. When you look close at this incredible color you will be amazed at the mix of color. A friend of mine who is a custom painter (with his own Dupont colormatch system) was stunned at the mixture. He pointed out to me that Honda has even mixed some Pearl into the paint. Look close at it in the daylight and you will see it.
The color NEVER gets old because it changes the most under different lighting conditions. It reflects it's surroundings and for my money it is the only color that truly shows off the lines of the S2000 with all of it's shadow detail. The Yellow is lust The Silver is love. |
Yellow is the only color because I need to locate the S2K fast to make the dash fast after I have lifted from the store. :)

Hey, man, if you're in your mid to early twenties or even younger, go for the yellow. You only live once and you'll have plenty of time to go conservative the rest of your life.
If you drove the yellow and had bleach blonde hair with big ass earrings, then you're pushing it. But I figure Honda S2000 people are usually classy folks. If you haven't read my topic, I'm debating this as well--between black and yellow and white. I am favoring yellow right now. And about all this fading business... yeah for cars from the 80s. Paint technology these days will allow for the color to remain consistent for years. Go with your GUT feelings. The silver is too common and boring. Now if you're 28+, then go with any other color. |

Well, yeah, it's not ever boring if it's on an S2000 of course. Speaking relatively here, bro.
|
Sorry, no fading on the yellow. This is the same yellow on the NSX.
|
I don't think anyone can say what to do till they've seen the yellow in person. ( I haven't).
Without seeing the silverstone in person I don't think I would have been excited about buying one. I've seen lots of silver or grey cars that don't exactly inspire any kind of excitement or passion. But the silverstone is unlike any silver or grey I've seen before. It is an exciting color to look at. So I'd say try not to make up your mind till you can see what the yellow looks like. I'm glad I got to see the silverstone otherwise I would have ended up with one of those other colors, and we all know silverstone is the best. ;) -- Tom |
Fading shouldn't be a problem as all the S2K's are clearcoated. My red Miata, now that was a car that faded. The yellow is actually Spa Yellow Pearl and according to the dealer sales manager who has seen one it really looks good. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the colors however. There is not a bad color on this car.

I am in SoCal and my dealer is Norm Reeves in Cerritos.
I guess I'll go for yellow. For those of you still waiting the silver one has already been sold.. And Ben, thank you, I fit under the category of early twenties or younger (no flames please, I had to work too hard and make too many sacrifices for this car) and I know that this will be my last chance to do something this irrational. Besides there are already 3 silver and 1 red within 5 mile radius of my home. Just hope I can get through this last few weeks, then I'll know that it was worth it. |
Ray. You sound like a very sensible guy who's got his priorities right.
I'm sure it's not going to make any difference to you what the color is on the day you finally get to see the S2K that you're going to own (once you've done the paperwork). You're going to be so happy anyway. You'll probably find that after a short while, you'll be so in love with the yellow (and the car), you won't regret it. Hope you enjoy the ride! :) |
You can't go wrong with either color.
damn I wish we could get blue color. |
nice white s2000, man. good choice in colors. i've yet to decide, ray.
|
Why should age have anything to do with color choice. I'm 42. I think the yellow is gorgeous. It's also a new color so there won't be as many like it around town. Wish I could afford to buy the new 2001 Gold Wing. It's also offered in yellow this year.
|
Both colors are wonderful. If you want a little "flash" to go with your VTEC dash, go with the yellow. If you're more conservative like I am, go with the silverstone. You can't go wrong either way!
|
all you old people will say age is not an issue. it is, dude. there are so many old dudes driving around in roadsters it's hilarious.
the car's cool... but before you put that top down you should work a little more on yourself. until then, stick with the bimmer. |
Here come the flames Ben...age is only a number...it doesn't signify maturity or lack thereof.
|
Agree with Jay Li. Age is not much of an issue here
|
fire engines are either red or yellow- so they stand out more! so they stand out to anyone looking, including those enforcing the traffic laws- silver might be a bit less "ticket me" color?
might be an interesting survey- maybe we need a new thread: color and # of tickets... |
i know a lot of people disagree with the age thing and the S2000... that's why there are a lot of older folks who drive it.
Drive on. do your own thang. |

Troll ALERT...benjaminchoi...
|
hey, it's natural for you guys to assume that the parents are the source of my spending because you just can't understand how a young guy can do it because you couldn't do it. don't blame me for being ambitious and getting things done.
well i did and i will continue to make money and spend it on things that give me value. |
benjaminchoi, no pun intended, but how could you be so ambitious but indecisive? Hmmm...Interesting...
|
You're the one thinking over it. Figure it out.
