Is 2002 the last year for production of the S2000????
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.s2k...d66fb67ea4.jpg I've been hearing alot of rumors about Honda ceasing production of the S2000 after the 2002 model...... at least ceasing under the Honda badge, and possibly resurfacing as an Acura. Anyone been hearing the same thing, or maybe a fact of this??? Kevin

stop the madness
stop it now this crap usually doesn't get started until sometime AFTER the MY release. sigh |
I really hope not cause i wont be able to get mine till i turn 16 which is in april......i would cry if i dont get my s2000
|
It may be possible that 2002 is the last year. If Honda was planning to make more after 2002 MY, why didn't they redesign the whole roof??? It seems like they didn't wanna waste time and just added the rear glass window to the existing roof.

I think there's a flipside to that.... If they were going to make it the last model year, why did they even bother to make any modifications, i.e. glass rear window with defroster, aluminum dead pedal, new shifter, console leather cover, aluminum interior details, tweeters, new color... Am I missing anything?

They are relatively simple fix, but Honda Corporation is in the business of making $$$ just like all other businesses. Why even bother making any changes if they're going to discontinue?
Also, in terms of production stages, the upcoming NSX may still be in R&D while the S2000 is already in Production. Regardless of how much time/effort Honda allocates on the NSX, it won't influence, at least not by much, the production of the S2000. Why don't you think the development of the S2000 didn't stop the production of the current NSX, depite its lower sales figures? I think, if the MY2002 posts good sales record, then Honda would continue producing the S2000..., but then I guess we'll never know until MY2003...:) |
I guess u r right. :) But even if they keep on producing the S2000, we wont expect to see a different engine until they are done with the new NSX.
|
Oh, I definitely vouch for that...
I think Honda has accomplished a feat in producing the most powerful, normally aspirated engine per liter. Engine designs, especially, would be targeted to last more than a couple of years in production. I'm hoping to get one this coming winter..., but we'll just see. Congratulations on your purchase!!!!:D |
I think the S2000 and NSX are like apples and oranges. More S2Ks have been produced in one year than have NSXs in ten. How this is relevant to whether or not 2002 is the last year of production, I have no idea.
