Long live the 2002 S2000

All the bugs gone!

Perfect Transmission,

NO TRACTION CONTORL. to have it one and drive the S2000 is DUMB!

And one of a kind seats that don't look like every other seat out there!

Oh and yes shift at 9000 RPM!

YES!!! :)

OMFG! It has a passenger airbag disable switch! :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Now I have to find out how to move my current switch indicator to the new location and get rid of the box on the dash.

So no more Tan interior? I can't believe no one has mentioned this yet.

The new steering wheel is fugly. I don't like the ginormous H badge on it. It's not even remotely interesting.

I didn't like the '04-'05 wheels, but I do like these. It;s a subtle change from the AP2 wheels, but they are really nice looking. I want to see the profile shape of them.

VSC and DBW can be OK when implemented well. For me it;s just a weekend car so I wouldn't want it, and glad I don't have it. I would just have to turn it off every day.

I don't like the change to the seats.

I think the speakers in the roll-hoops is an interesting idea. I will reserve judgement until I see it.

I think a compass would have been better than an outside temp guage. It's a convertable, if you want to know what it's like outside, drop the top!

LBP is a nice looking color in a tiny swatch. I want to see the whole car.

honda has some talented photoshoppers, imo. those wheels really look like they were in the original shot. it makes me laugh that honda is so cheap as to not take another original picture of the new car, but rather ps the old one. i think the new seats are nice cuz i like resting my head. however, the older seats with rick's pillows are good both on and off the track.

i think honda shoulda put seat heaters.

anyone have word on msrp?

I got to thinking...

If the speakers are in the roll bars, they will likely be too small to replace with aftermarket drivers. Probably serve more as headrest speakers than true rear speakers. If that's the case, I'm not too envious.

First off the VSA I think could possibly be sketchy. All 350Z's except Base, come with some type of TCS or VSA, you can turn them off, but they still intervene, they give you an on/off switch, but it doesn't turn them all the way off. This would suck if the S2000 is the same way. The seats look big and bulky with those headrests and the wheels aren't aggressive in the least bit. I don't need more speakers, 20lbs isn't a lot, but I still think it's excessive. I think Honda is heading in the wrong direction with this car. More Elise DNA and less 350Z. The only thing we want more of is HP, and we want less weight. I'll be following magazine coverage and hopefully find a 2005 left on the lot if they find it more watered down or sedated. If not, C6 might be the next best performance car that's still Daily drivable.

I highly doubt the VSA will still be partially active when turned off. Honda knows this is meant to be a sports car... I doubt they would force such a thing upon the driver.

The only difference I see in the seats is the headrest. Like I said earlier, it's a great safety improvement. I also happen to think it looks nicer. It's subjective... but something tells me 06 owners will find plenty of 05 owners willing to swap.

Maybe YOU don't need more speakers, but lots of us do. Go look around and see how many people have Spods... or even just upgraded factory stereos. Some of us enjoy music...

I understand the weight reduction thing... but come on, 20lbs? If you're serious about tracking, you could ditch the spare, jack, passenger seat, floor mats, ect and save three times that weight. On the street, you're never going to notice <1% difference in weight.

Are there any advantages to DBW? I'm talking "feeling"- and/or responsiveness-type things (not increased fuel economy, allowing for VSA, etc.).

I'm worried that the best we can hope for is that Honda didn't screw it up with a sloppy DBW implementation. I'm hoping that if Honda nailed it then it'd be better than the mechanical linkage.

Is being better within the realm of possibility? Or is the pinnacle of DBW that it would exactly "immitate" a mechanical linkage?
