2009 Berlina with *91* miles on BAT @ $50k

LOL, the last time BMW made a gorgeous anything was in the 1990's. Everything BMW after that looks like multiple designers got crazy with unnecessary creases and ugly vents. For which the 1M is a poster child.
It's one of the reasons why the S2000 is a classic. It's an understated yet classy design. Especially the AP1.
Anyway, about the 91 mile 2009 S2k. I'm not surprised that it's currently at 70k. When I finally bought my S2K last year, I wanted to find a stock low mileage example. The reason being because I couldn't afford one when they were new. And now that I could, I wanted it to be stock and as low miles as possible so I could get as close an experience as having one from new. Regardless of what the buyer will do with the BAT auction car, they will at least get to have a nearly new S2K!

How do you get the top down on that BMW?

I will agree the S is more "fun" to drive especially on a nice day but the interior is way nicer on the bimmer and the power is not comparable, in a perfect world i'd have a 4 door 335i with an M package (or possibly a 4 door MK7 GTI) and the S.
But they do make a BMW Z4 that is very similar to the S if you desire a higher quality convertible

As a proud S owner I'm going to have to say the $70k+ price is ridiculous. But! I get it, I understand where the collctors are coming from at the same time. If I were a collector I would put that $70k+ into two unmolested, relatively low mileage CR's and set those aside instead.

Seriously the S2K is a toy meant to be played with, it's not some super rare only 50 made collectors item. Something like an Integra Type-R is more rare than a basic S2000 the only appeal of this particular one is the low mileage which again doesn't really mean anything for Hondas. S2K's have been proven to exceed 300k+ miles reliably.
But I guess the price makes sense if the goal is to preserve the car in some like Honda or Japanese Motorsport museum or something since you are never going to find an S in such pristine "showroom" condition as that one.

Regarding the 1M, I haven’t driven one but everyone says it’s an awesome machine but was it really that hard for BMW to create such a car? Take a massed produced body and add a massed produced engine with a manual.
The S2000 is a very special car and the world is starting to pay attention, for that reason we should all be happy that we are able to see an event like this unfold in our lifetimes.

Bidding is now at $70k+BAT fees+shipping. This is a sign some people have too much money.
Doing a little math with a conservative valuation, an 09 with 50k miles is worth somewhere in the ballpark of $25k, depending on the condition. If this settles at $75k+, that means the first 50k miles would cost about $1 each. Or those with 2009s with 50k miles, that's the value per mile driven at this point.
