Default 350Z Nismo to S2000CR

I recently sold my 350Z NISMO and bought a 2000CR a little over a week ago. The cars are similar in performance, but acheive there performance very differently. The NISMO had tons of torque and would accellarate smartly at any speed and any gear much like an american Z28 Camaro or Transam. The NISMO version of the 350Z doesn't understeer like lesser models due to uprated springs, sway bars and suspension settings. The HR version of the 350Z makes a conservatively rated 306hp[mine dynoed 291rwhp]and will easily pull to the 155mph top end limiter in the top 3 gears. The NISMO also had extra body wields and bracing which while helping the handling made the car quite loud inside and stiff in everyday driving. The interior noise plus the poor quality stereo made long drives unconfortable. Autocrossing the car was also an excersize as frusturation as for all the good of the stiff body seims and suspension tuning the cars low speed performance was limited by the car's 3300lbs+ weight and an ineffective viscus type limited slip differential. I waited a week to do any impressions of the S2000CR as the car had less than 200miles when I took delivery. My first impression is the the S2000 is better balanced than the Z with quicker more precise steering, nice firm ride, a snug fitting hard top and a decent stereo. The straight line performance is close to that of the Z in a VTEC kind of way. I'm really pleased with the S and look forward to learning and enjoying my new car.

congrats on the CR! It's cool to find another memphis area s2k owner, as there aren't that many of us.

Are you on MRS?

Welcome congrats on moving to the s2000 CR.

You just missed a huge post where someone was looking for comparisons of the 350z to the S2000. While your Z was a NISMO, your description and comparison of the 2 cars is spot on and well written.

everytime im in my s2k I get that' oh what a cute little car'. Or ' nice Mita'. When im in my 07 Z mildly modified I get that " damn nice car'', or ''thats clean''. I also noticed I get more respect on the streets from other ricers, even though I dont have time for that anymore being all grown up an all. I just ignore them. My brother is actually taking the S2K from me here pretty soon.I guess I just grew out of it. Going with the faster, more comfortable car, the Z. Driven and owning both cars, I can say that..Point is congrats on your purchase and I hope you enjoy your new S2K. It is a very fun car.
