Default 40 mile year 2000 S2k may be coming up for sale

Just saw this facebook post where one was inherited through an estate. Being a year 2000, this could set a pretty high bar if it comes to collector auction.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1825...7157284737803/

I've got a question for you all. I've acquired my mom's S2000 from 2000. It has 40 original miles on it. It was driven from Lynnwood Honda to her garage and hasn't moved since. I need to determine a value for her estate. Can you guys help? Thanks in advance!!!
{EDIT: the original post was incorrect, it's got 447 miles.}

She posted yesterday that "I'm planning on keeping her and taking good care of her for the next 20 years".

If I was rich enough to spend dumb money on an S2k, I would buy one of these super low miles ones for $50k and turn it into a track car and drive the living crap out of it :P Hate seeing cars like the S2k being used as collector cars and driving up the costs of parts for the rest of us!

^^ LOL
I don't mind the values going up but I shed a tear at a car like this being collectors garage queen cars... We're not talking about million dollar items here.

How does that work? The cars that are selling for all the money to collectors are fully intact with ultra low mileage so they are pretty much in need of nothing. They transfer from a life spent in one garage to a life spent in another garage. Parts are not a major consideration.

On the other hand the market for Japanese enthusiast cars overall is on the rise. That market includes more than just collectors. It is likely made up primarily of car enthusiasts. There are lots of people who are now buying these cars that weren’t in a position to purchase one when they were still in production. I would guess that this is the group of buyers that would have the biggest impact on pricing for things like parts.

Yeah, but she's concerned about the value so much now she doesn't want to drive it. I'm guessing it will get sold in the next couple years Max.

I just read thru the comments...some ass hat offered her $12k? are you kidding me...someone is trying to take advantage of her. $40K? are you kidding me...she needs to check values on BaT for perspective.
The car would sell for between $50K and $70K. The recent high profile auction results are showing a trend that was discussed recently.

The owner needs to do all the maintenance fluid items, new tires, then put a clutch interlock bypass on to save the engine long term.

There is definitely a trend of very high prices for cars exactly like this. If she is going to drive it she is throwing away a LOT of money by putting 10K miles on it. Better to store it properly, or sell it, and then buy another car to drive imho.

Cars with 10-20K miles are not in the same category but even those cars seem to be doing better and better. I have a bit of dilemma because I have an 03 with 17,xxx miles and an OEM hardtop in storage and I'm planning to start driving it in a few years when I retire, but if this trend continues I may end up having to sell it, which I honestly don't want to do. But, I am not in a position to throw large sums of money away. Honestly, I don't think my car will get into big numbers during my timeline. But, one never knows.

Its interesting because just three years ago I bought an 02 with OEM hardtop and 8,xxx miles for 21K and that seemed to everyone like a air price at the time. I'm driving it a lot - it now has 40,xxx miles and more to come.
